Trimming the list?[edit]

I believe some list trimming may be in order. For example, at what point is a character notable for inclusion? With some of them, I think they are included more for their stock roles (such as Anju in OoT and in Minish Cap). - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 02:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I would think, at least, if they are mentioned in the Hyrule 'pedia, we can include them. Unless we agree that they are incredibly trivial, I guess. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 07:21, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Dark Link compared to Twilight Princess "evil Link"[edit]

This comparison cannot go away. In fact, not listing it would be like denying the existance of the CDI games or Link's appearance in Soul Calibur II. It simply isn't encyclopedic enough. It is an obvious reference, and it is something people would use an encyclopedia for. An encyclopedia tries to give as much information on a subject as possible, which would also make any references to the subject readily available. People use encyclopedias to get as much info as possible, even if it isn't directly related to the subject. I don't know who decided what makes Dark Link who he is and why that wasn't a valid cameo. In Twilight Princess, the Triforce would be considered a cameo because it has no plot meaning other than the holder is chosen by the gods. -- (talk) 11:21, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

It's original research unless it can be reliably sourced. Even if you think it's "obvious", it shouldn't be included unless there are sources to back it up. Haipa Doragon (talkcontributions) 15:12, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
It isn't original research, but common sense. Look at screenshots from both games. Use Common Sense, don't wikilawyer. Is there anyone here that doubts its the same character? Dream Focus 01:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Even with common sense, if they don't spell it out you can't say it. Most you can say is that the characters are similar.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 03:12, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Does anyone have any reasonable doubt whatsoever? If not, then it isn't a problem saying it. Common sense. Think for yourself, don't just look for others to do it for you, and quote them. Dream Focus 14:09, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Article's been axed[edit]

Here. While I don't want to revert this and start an edit war, we need to discuss it and decide if the bulk of editors agree with the removals, and how we can salvage as much info as appropriate. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 21:11, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Agahnim redirects here to nothing[edit]

Maybe he is not a "recurring" character but he is the main enemy of the third, and one of the most popular, Zelda games. Someone needs to correct this. (talk) 09:44, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

I've redirected Agahnim to the ALttP page. -sesuPRIME 03:20, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Princess Zelda merge discussion[edit]

I see Princess Zelda has a merge discussion linking here, placed by a member of the WikiProject Video games. I Oppose the merge, since this well established cultural icon deserves her own article. Dream Focus 02:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I also Oppose the merge'. Princess Zelda is probably one of the most recognizable female video game characters of all, so merging wouldn't be the best decision. The article needs alot of work, but it could be brought up to standard. For one thing we need to fix that whole incarnation section, orget rid of it altogether. I think we should make it more like Mario's, making it appearance by year rather than putting it by game. We also need alot more citation, since almost everything in that article isn't sourced. It is doable though. -NintendoFan6 02:49, 20 August 2009

I oppose the merge as well. This is Zelda! Every friggin game in the series has her name in it for crying out loud. (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 00:44, 21 August 2009 (UTC).

Comment I will be quick to point out that the first person to vote oppose was also the first person to suggest the idea of merging it on WT:VG. Have a nice day.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

No, actually, while some were trying to eliminate Lord British, the notable character from the Ultima series, I pointed out he was just as notable as Princess Zelda and surely thought no one would actually bother her. But, surprisingly, someone actually did! Both Lord British and Princess Zelda have their names on their game boxes even. I'm hoping we can save them both. Dream Focus 01:53, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Removal of characters, despite having multiple appearances[edit]

About this edit: [1]. The article name is Recurring characters, so all recurring characters should be listed. I'm reverting it. If an item in the article meets the requirements for being there, there is no reason to wipe it out. Dream Focus 22:41, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

The existence and information of the characters can be found on the official Zelda website and elsewhere. Other opinions please. How many people believe an article dedicated to listing recurring characters in the series, should list all of the recurring characters? It isn't an indiscriminate list, since it has that specific requirement for inclusion. Dream Focus 23:31, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Add Happy Mask Salesman[edit]

The Happy Mask Salesman has appeared 3 times throughout the series and should be added. He's appeared in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Oracle of Ages. Also that Shigeru Miyamoto modled him after himself. --Victory93 (talk) 23:47, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

What we should classify as recurring![edit]

Alright right now there is a debate to which characters should be included due to their appearance. I agree it should be only those who have appeared in three or more Zelda games. Of course some have had two appearances but alot of them where those in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Postman has appeared more than three times so he has been included plus he's iconic to the series. Few more have appeared either three or more times throughout the series so will add them later. --Victory93 (talk) 09:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Removed speculation[edit]

Removed speculative bullshit about Majora's Mask being found in the rocks in Twilight Princess. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 19:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Beating the Postman[edit]

It has been included several times that it is possible beat the Postman (or Marathon Man) in the Commemorative Race in Ocarina of Time. This is removed because it is simply not true, and the videos claiming to prove the feat have been debunked. Even when using a GameShark, he is simply not beatable, he will always claim to have beaten you by a second. This information should always be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 22:02, 26 November 2010 (UTC)

Where the heck is Saria!!!!!!!!!![edit]

Why didn't you put Saria as one of the charcters in this article!!!! Talk to the creator about this, she is not only the sage of the forest but she loves Link and Link loves her too. Herobrine thats me (talk) 23:47, 2 October 2012 (UTC)10/2/12 Herobrine thats me

Saria and Ruto were excluded, and they should be included, this list is invalid without them. (talk) 04:14, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Princess Zelda[edit]

It looks like the Princess Zelda section in this article has been vandalized. Philroc (talk) 23:34, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

I found the last good version and reverted to it. Howicus (talk) 23:39, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Zant? Suggestion[edit]

Where is Zant? he is an antagonist in TWP Retartist (talk) 11:11, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Generally, only characters that appear in multiple games in the franchise have had a section. (Whether that is a good policy is a separate question, but I hope that explains this query). — BobQQ (talk) 12:35, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
It really is a poor policy, because it makes no sense that such a major antagonist such as Zant should not get a section simply because he was only in one game, which did not have a sequel, where as someone such as Linebeck gets a section, simply because he had a grandson in a sequel game. I do vote that major antagonists/protagonists from single games should be listed, or at least linked to the plot of the game they appear in. Blake (Talk·Edits) 16:32, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Well also that policy is not followed. Examples : Majora's Mask, Yuga, and Navi. So Zant indeed should have a part in these characters. So Zant does deserve a spot at antagonists. But Retartist, why not be bold and add it yourself? NathanWubs (talk) 16:47, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
All points seconded — BobQQ (talk) 08:23, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
