Merge with Chiffon (clothing)[edit]

A merge with Chiffon (clothing) was suggested in January 2017. There has been no discussion on either talk page, so I decided to go ahead with it. I searched extensively (by google) for references of the use of chiffon in dressmaking in Eritrea but found nothing reliable, so I added a single sentence with a 'citation needed' tag. "s.th."[edit]

What does "s.th." mean? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 02:33, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic[edit]

Why did someone add Arabic in the opening paragraph, as if this French term derives from Arabic (which, according to Wiktionary, it does not)? Is anyone knowledgeable monitoring this page to prevent misinformation from being added? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 02:34, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have access to the Arabic source cited, but all my investigation shows the Engish/French word is unrelated to the arabic one but instead comes from proto-indo-european . Either the Arabic comes from French or it is just a co-incidence. Ashmoo (talk) 15:48, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
