Neutral Point of View[edit]

As of this writing, the article does not conform to WP:NPOV - it mostly reads like text cribbed from p.r. for the bank. —GrantNeufeld 17:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

While I appreciate any attempts to brush up on NPOV, I disagree in this case. The content is objective, and although the key portions of the stub concern specific services, those are the services that this bank is known for/distinguishes itself about. It makes sense to mention them. The stub lacks an *opinion* about the services, so, in this case, I'm fine with it staying the way it is.--Rumplefurskin 02:11, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

I am working on a rewrite of the article, as it does come off as a PR piece. Calvinhrn (talk) 17:10, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Date of Inception[edit]

It is incorrect that this bank started in 1997 as many of us members of it since 1994 well know```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.48.146.15 (talk) 12:25, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

The About Us page on the Citizens Bank website does indicate that it was founded in 1997. Calvinhrn (talk) 17:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

As one of its first employees, I can tell you with certainty it started operations in 1997... You may be thinking of "Citizens Trust", a related trust company which had been in business for a good decade prior to the inception of "Citizens Bank". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.71.189.230 (talk) 01:12, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo-citizensbank.gif[edit]

Image:Logo-citizensbank.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Bank vs. credit union[edit]

To the IP user who keeps trying to change the classification of Citizens Bank of Canada from "bank" to "credit union", do you have a source to back you up? Yes, I know it's a subsidiary of Vancity. That doesn't make it a credit union. Every single source I've found through a Google search calls it a bank, including Citizens Bank of Canada itself. More specifically, a Schedule 1 federally chartered bank. Example sources: [4] [5] [6] [7]

Either provide a source that says Citizens Bank of Canada is a credit union or please stop changing the classification. AtticusX (talk) 05:23, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

None of your links come close to saying that Citizens Bank of Canada itself is a credit union. Nor do they contradict the abundant evidence online that it's classified as a Schedule 1 branchless bank. Citizens Bank describe themselves a bank and so does everyone else. Yes, we've established that their parent, Vancity, runs a separate credit union in B.C.—that doesn't automatically turn every other business they run into a credit union, if that's your argument. I'm not sure what your argument is, since all you've said so far is "its owned by Vancity". Three of your four links were already purple for me because I'd visited them when I'd Googled around trying to find any evidence supporting your interesting notion that Citizens Bank is a credit union in disguise. None of these links appear to provide any evidence for that notion. AtticusX (talk) 09:01, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
