Comment[edit]

This is an informative but somewhat scrappy article. A particular problem is that the section headed "Mass Extinction Theories" is redundant with (but inferior to) the "Possible causes" section of the main article, [[1]]. The latter should be transcluded (if that's possible) or linked to.

Another problem is that the section headed "Early Paleogene Climate" begins "The Paleocene (the first epoch of the Paleogene) immediately followed the asteroid impact that destroyed the dinosaurs and the Cretaceous world", but of course this begs the question about what caused the K-Pg mass extinction, which is precisely the topic of the section which follows. This paragraph therefore needs rewriting so as to remain neutral as to the actual cause of the K-Pg boundary.

Garbled start of "Sea level" section[edit]

The section titled "Sea level" begins with the sentences "A theory for sea level fall in the Maastrichtian time period, the latest age of the late Cretaceous, has been proposed as evidence. It shows that sea level fell more at this time of the Cenozoic than any time during the Mesozoic." The first sentence specifies the Maastrichtian as the time of the sea level fall, and this is part of the Cretaceous, which is part of the Mesozoic; but the second sentence says "at this time of the Cenozoic", which is nonsense if the first sentence is true. I don't have access to the cited reference. 73.53.61.168 (talk) 14:23, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
