The party did not come about as a result of a split in Jewish Communist Party (Poalei Zion) which is who i presume the red link referred to. I also presume that the supposed split irefers to the decisions made at the Congress of the Peoples of the East but i need to check the reference to be sure... Thanks! I picked up Offenberg's book Kommunismus in Palästina from a local library, i will add more details later this week to this article and related articles. I core question that my German skills aren't good enough to answer fully is whether to consider the PKP as founded in 1919 or 1924? In 1919 MPS was founded, on initiative of the Vienna-based Organizational Bureau of the Poalei Zion. This party changes name to MPSI and in 1921 (according to Halliday) to 'Jewish Communist Party - Poalei Zion, section of the Palestinian Communist Party' (full name according to Offenberg). In 1922 there is a split, into PKP and KPP. PKP and KPP are unified in 1923. Are we to see both the PKP and KPP as new parties, or to see PKP as the original party founded in 1919 and KPP as the splinter-group? Halliday's wordings indicate that the two would be equally representative of the JKP-PZ, but I'm not 100% sure. And what about Poalei Zion Smol, when did that group split away from MPS/MPSI/JKP-PZ? Maybe a disambiguation page that covers the so-called Jewish Communist Parties, Poalei Zion parties (and i'm a little unsure why this page isn't called Workers of Zion) and the (historical and current) Palestinian parties would be useful? The most urgent need is to improve the Poale Zion article. It tends to talk of PZ as a movement, rather than as a set of organizations. Was there one or two World Union of Poale Zion (right and left)? Which were the affiliated parties? --Soman (talk) 19:41, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
