London[edit]

Opening para is a bit confusing "featured combat scenes that took place within virtual representation of Manchester Cathedral in London, England.". Is the physical cathedral in London, or is the game set in London with the virtual representation of Manchester's Cathedral dropped into the capital? --Oscarthecat (talk) 08:04, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Resolved, fixed by User:Masem in this edit. --Oscarthecat (talk) 17:07, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester Cathedral at Flickr[edit]

There are quite a few free-to-use images of Manchester Cathedral, including its interior, at the aforementioned link. If uploading, please do so at Wikimedia Commons and add to the Manchester Cathedral category. --Jza84 |  Talk  03:24, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

(Also posted on WT:GM) I think this might be the right spot, shame about the angle... or maybe this one, which is better. Any preferences? Nev1 (talk) 03:34, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm inclined to think it's the second one. --Jza84 |  Talk  13:47, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone ahead and added the second. Nev1 (talk) 13:36, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man[edit]

Wouldn't Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man be a better title? I.e. drop "Controversy over the usage"? --Jza84 |  Talk  00:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bump! --Jza84 |  Talk  22:04, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I figure that the whole title is necessary; since the point is to show the negative reaction to the use of the locale, it makes it easier for readers to "get" the purpose. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 09:28, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Quotation overuse and copyedit[edit]

I was giving this a read since it was mentioned at WT:VG and I'm noticing heavy overuse of quotes—most of the instances can be paraphrased and thus the quotes add needless length (and it's in our mission to minimize fair use quoting). Also the article can use a light copyedit in some areas (e.g., use of "they" repeatedly—specify whom and vary usage). czar  15:38, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I'll try to go through it in the future. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk) (contributions) 15:51, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 21 May 2021[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moved to Controversy over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man. There is a clear consensus to move back to the original title. (Technical move requested at WP:RMT) (non-admin closure) Lennart97 (talk) 15:42, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy surrounding Resistance: Fall of ManControversies surrounding Resistance: Fall of Man – For consistency reasons with other, similar articles, such as Controversies surrounding Grand Theft Auto IV, Controversies surrounding Grand Theft Auto V, and Controversies surrounding Mortal Kombat amongst others. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 13:51, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. I understand the consistency argument, but the issue is that all of the examples are video games with multiple controversies, whereas the controversy faced by Resistance is an individual one. - Bryn (talk) (contributions) 10:08, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Abryn: If that is really the case, then "surrounding" does not sound like the right word for it. "Surround" implies multiple things. Perhaps an alternate name change such as Resistance: Fall of Man copyright infringement controversy would be in order. There are already existing alternate titled redirects but they all sound long-winded or inaccurate.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 15:51, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. There is really only one controversy highlighted in the article, so "controversies" make no sense. I do note that from the article's history, according to this diff this article was unilaterally moved from Controversy over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man without any consensus or attempt at discussion back in 2016, and it was under that title that the article was assessed as GA+ class. Perhaps it would be more appropriate to simply move it back to Controversy over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man? Haleth (talk) 18:37, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Haleth: I would also support that. I think it's much better than what it was moved to.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:31, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think that is a good idea. I never liked the title change, but I lacked the energy to care. - Bryn (talk) (contributions) 08:41, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Support move back to Controversy over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man (or some other descriptive title). Oppose proposed "controversies" title for reason stated by Bryn. Colin M (talk) 01:11, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Going by the subsequent responses, am I correct in saying that there is unanimous support from every participant for the title to be moved back to Controversy over the use of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man? If so, it is a support for the counter proposal from me. Haleth (talk) 15:35, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
