The footnotes refer to Prince and Bruce Springsteen records on the Billboard top 100. How does that have anything to do with CCR? --Soren84 (talk) 20:43, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]


I have an LP titled Chooglin' that was released in 1982 - it is a compilation album:

A1 = I Heard it Through the Grapevine
A2 = Keep on Chooglin
B1 = Suzie Q
B2 = Pagan Baby
B3 = Born on the Bayou

A BIG thanks to the person(s) who posted the handy info on this page. I am a Disgruntled Old Coot huddled in a hovel, a meager shanty atop the Ozark Plateau, y'all. When CCR was just starting out I lived not far away, 10 years younger than the CCR guys, a mid-Baby Boomer (Generation Jones) vice the early Boomerness of the band. I and others considered CCR to be "our" band due to groovy tunes and proximity to their stomping ground over the hill from our burgh. Looking back over the decades and the MANY MANY MANY songs and groups/artists/etc. I have heard I hereby proclaim that CCR is my favorite band. There are others that tie for 2nd-place and are oh-so close to CCR but there is a raw, basic... something about CCR that is so appealing to me. Thanks to any or all who assembled this and other CCR pages. I appreciate your efforts and thanks to any who read this post. I remain the humble, impoverished, aging Disgruntled Old Coot. Peak U.S. Singles chart positions[edit]

Someone probably needs to go back in and re-check them. A vandal (fan?) gave CCR a bunch of #1 hits that they never had. AFIAR, CCR hit #2 five times on the Billboard Hot 100 and never had a number one single. After looking a little more closely, the vandal is user "S10787091" and he/she seems to have edited more than just the Singles table. It appears that all 8 edits that were made need to be undone, and I'm not adept enough at editing to make these changes without undoing the good edits that have since been done. The Golliwogs[edit]

Normally I understand the distinction between an older version of a band versus a newer one (e.g. Joy Division and New Order are obviously different bands), but as The Golliwogs were quite literally the same band of guys, does anyone agree that the Golliwogs singles discography be included on this page? I know the Golliwogs page is referenced on this one, but again, it's essentially the same band under a pseudonym. YouCanDoBetter (talk) 04:44, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joel Whitburn chart stats[edit]

In the Billboard-endorsed "Top Pop Singles" books, Joel Whitburn's data conflicts in four places with the numbers on this page.

These are the discrepancies:

  • "Fortunate Son" peaked at #14, not #3.
  • "Who'll Stop the Rain" was a non-charting B-side, not a #2 hit.
  • "Run Through the Jungle" was a no-charting B-side, not a #4 hit.
  • "Long As I Can See the Light" was a non-charting B-side, not a #2 hit.

All four songs are significant enough to be listed. But under the US chart peak column, each should have the same hyphen representing "did not chart" that you see alongside the songs "Born on the Bayou" or "Hey Tonight."

In each case, the songs are piggybacking off the A-sides, whose chart positions are all correctly listed. But those peak chart positions apply only to the A-sides.

This information comes from Whitburn's books, which are authorized by Billboard.

I fear I would screw up the columns if I fixed it myself. I hope someone more Wiki-adept will make these corrections. 98.116.37.205 (talk) 22:39, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
