Intertitle image[edit]

Most infobox templates use the intertitle from television series, unless none can be obtained. I have reverted the image to the actual series intertitle that was used for all shows. Please discuss why you feel it shouldn't be used. — Wyliepedia 17:42, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see how an intertitle is considered "free use." The intertitle is still owned by Crisis and NBC. If that is the only reason that you feel this image is more appropriate to use, I don't feel that your reasoning is valid. Also, the intertitles are not used on all TV shows on Wikipedia, this includes shows such as "The Blacklist," "Animal Practice, and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." So that shouldn't be a reason to you the inter title either. Rswallis10 (talk) 18:57, 29 May 2014 (UTC)Rswallis10[reply]
This particular intertitle is free because it consists only of fonts and therefore is ineligible for copyright, as explained in the template on the file page. The use of logos in TV infoboxes was discussed at WT:TV and there is no consensus to use them in lieu of intertitles. In any case, as I have explained on your talk page,[1] our non-free content policy states that "non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose". Here we have a free intertitle vs a non-free logo so the choice is clear. CAWylie did explain why we use the current image on the previous file's talk page. --AussieLegend () 19:08, 29 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
