Single source- does it actually matter?[edit]

Of course an article about a fictional character is gonna be primarily sourced from the work the character appears in, and there haven't exactly been many critical essays written on King of the Hill that I'm aware of. Is this really a problem? 98.194.81.166 (talk) 00:58, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Date of Birth[edit]

Don't automatically add in birthday's for animated characters, as they exist on a floating time line. The age listed for Dale Gribble was his age at the start of the series. Think about it. If he was born in 1965, he'd be around 13 years old when he and the rest of the gang were in High School! DarkPaladin126 (talk)

Dale has a signature line that recurs throughout the series. Where does his "Sha-sha-shaw" (or cha-cha-shaw, or whatever it is he says) with the karate-like moves originate? I don't know how to spell what he is saying, and I don't know if it is original or a spoof on something done elsewhere (I suspect this is a spoof, and I would like to put it in context). If anyone knows, it is worth adding that info to this article, as Dale does this bit in many episodes. Off the top of my head, I know Dale does this in Nancy's bedroom in Season 4, Episode 21, titled "Nancy's Boys".

Minor detail[edit]

I'm removing the bit about Dale's thinking that John Redcorn is gay; at the very least he knows about Redcorn's way with women well enough to employ him in stealing Bill's girlfriend in "Untitled Blake McCormack" of season eleven.  :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.141.104.38 (talk) 06:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mayonase jars and assorted barrells.[edit]

Does anybody know how episodes featured him buying alien urine? And if so should it be put in the article about him constantly buying the stuff from various people. Unless it's already there and I didn't see it. Zabbethx (talk) 18:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shackleford[edit]

The part the mentions William S. Burroughs and Hunter S. Thompson is under the Shackleford section. I'm assuming that someone just added it later on to the bottom of the page. I don't really know where to put it though. If there was a character development or description or appearance part then it could be in there. I'm not deleting it, just think it should be moved. I believe the correct spelling for the last name should be "Shackelford" ala Shackelford_County,_Texas. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.112.52.120 (talk) 15:36, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hunter S. Thompson[edit]

In one episode a scene change shows the end of a conversation, the subject of which bears a striking resemblance to Hunter S. Thomspons funeral (Having his ashes, shot out of a cannon atop of a tower), and ends with dale saying something along the lines of "Thats how I'd do it." I dont remember what episode this was, so if someone who knows could elaborate with some actual quotes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.69.70.67 (talk) 01:15, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He resembles Hunter Thompson in way more way than just his funeral wish. I wouldn't jump to conclusions, but I wouldn't be surprised if Judge based the character in part on Thompson. Or at the very least, noticed the similarities later in the show. --67.180.228.181 (talk) 04:10, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency about Dale's height[edit]

This statement appears in the article:

"Dale stands 5'10" ft. (183 cm)"

However, 5'10" ft. corresponds to 178 cm. Which height is the correct - the one provided in feet or the one given in centimeters? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.154.136.69 (talk) 21:03, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Adding footnotes or a Notelist to cite episodes[edit]

I am currently looking over the article and wondering if one way to fix some of its problems is with episode citations, however this might unwieldy, so I was thinking of using something like what is on the IT Crowd Charters page, where it is group="lower alpha", each episode cited is put in a footnote, etc. MarvelAge91 (talk) 16:46, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
