Melissa Rycroft "withdrawl"[edit]

I am going to continue to revert this edit until it is sourced. ABC has made no such announcement, nor can I track down any media outlets claiming such an interview. Latest dope is still Jewel's blogged comments regarding scoring practices. Caliban93 (talk) 02:12, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Also, due to the edits I tried to revert, the Couples' table on the article page is all catawampus. Anyone more adept than I am able to fix that? Thanks. Caliban93 (talk) 02:32, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I am a clever monkey. Closed the broken table. NM Caliban93 (talk) 03:03, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

I agree. I've yet to find a source for it. So I've been undoing it whenever I see it's been put up there. Onesmallnote (talk) 14:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Good. I'll keep an eye on it as well. Probably just a hoaxter goofing around, who'll stop now s/he knows the page is watched. Thanks. Caliban93 (talk) 19:05, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Assignments[edit]

The article says that the pairings would be announced later this week, yet they're already up. Has the information been leaked, or is this just a form of vandalism? If the former, a source needs to be added, if the latter, the info needs to be deleted. Samer (talk) 20:58, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

TYPE O On the Dancing with the Stars (U.S. Season 8) home page under Night 1 running order it has Gilles paired with Kym. Gilles is actually paired with two time champion Cheryl Burke. The couple received the highest score of night one with 24 points. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Starbuck623 (talkcontribs) 21:33, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Pairs have come out now...Take off protection??[edit]

The only vandalism that was happening before it got protected was people were pairing up the stars with pros without verification. Well, the OFFICIAL pairs have been announced, and I want to fix it but I'm not an "established" registered user. I think they should take off the protection now so people can edit the page and prepare for the new season which will start BEFORE the protection runs out! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Onesmallnote (talkcontribs) 15:35, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Shawn & Mark's next dance is the Salsa, but it will not be in the first week of competition as you can see by looking at the television schdeule. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.197.10.116 (talk) 21:57, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

In this gallery, there are pictures of the couples practicing. It is evident that both David and Kym and Steve-O and Lacey will be dancing Viennese Waltz. http://www.etonline.com/gallery/2009/02/70806/index.html97.101.33.232 (talk) 05:08, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Ty announced on his blog that he'll do the quickstep as his second dance: http://www.pbrnow.com/blog/index.cfm/2009/2/27/My-parents-say-they-saw-an-improvement —Preceding unsigned comment added by Caslusfilho (talkcontribs) 18:24, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Woz's rehearsal video shows him dancing the Cha-cha-cha. Here: http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/video?id=6683827

A Facebook message from Woz says that his first two dances will be the Cha-cha-cha to "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" (presumably Bachman-Turner Overdrive, though this is not explicitly stated) and the Quickstep to "Oh Boy" (Buddy Holly). The official "Vote for Woz" group on Facebook is here: http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?ref=mb#/group.php?gid=49720779842 71.196.227.58 (talk) 00:11, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

In this video http://www.etonline.com/news/2009/03/71378/index.html we can see Steve-O and Lacey dancing the waltz and they refer the dance as Waltz (what makes us think about slow waltz danced on season 1 to 4), but the article says that the dance is the Viennese Waltz, so the doubt keeps on. They also talk about Salsa dance, so it'd be possible that the couple that executes the standard dance on first night, don't do a ballroom latin as second dance, but Salsa. (Personally, I think Salsa will replace Mambo, because this two dances are very similar.) This way who do the (Viennese?) Waltz on first night will do the Salsa on second as who cha-cha-cha on season premiere will quickstep next day. (02:30, 5 March 2009 (UTC))

Nancy hurt her knee while rehearsing the salsa. Caslusfilho (talk) 22:53, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Why anyone del all refs that I put on dance chart? It's not fair. =/Caslusfilho (talk) 13:02, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Where the dance chart for season 2 was found? I'm thinking that it isn't right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.253.123.172 (talk) 20:39, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Superlatives?[edit]

Another superlative that should be added: On Entertainment Tonight it was noted that Shawn Johnson is also the shortest competitor ever at 4'10".97.100.2.117 (talk) 04:36, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

This was then confirmed on Access Hollywood, as they compared Johnson to Nancy O'Dell, who at 5'10", is a foot taller than Johnson and the tallest woman competing this season.97.100.10.50 (talk) 17:48, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Except Nancy O'Dell ended up not competing that season. Whitestorm13 (talk) 17:17, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Lengthened Competition[edit]

I have a sense that this year season the competition will be expanded to twelve weeks. Just think. This season this year no one goes home the first week. And then there's sixteen dances to learn and a Freestyle. And I know they could have double eliminations but I have a feeling that ABC would have announced that. They might have announced the expanded competition, but did they announce it for seasons two and three. Also by this theory three couples would dance in week 12, which sounds like something they would do. And if you don't take this idea than take these. They're definetly not going to dances in one week this year. Do you really think that on apremiere night they would make them do twenty-six dances?! Also why can't non-members edit this too? What terrible vandalism had actually happened in those three days that got it blocked? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.197.10.116 (talk) 16:56, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, when talking about the new season of The Bachelorette, they said it would premiere on May 18, the night of the last DWTS performance show. This says that this season will be 11 weeks. And it got protected because the week that the pairs were announced, a TON of people were vandalizing and putting up a bunch of fake pairs. Onesmallnote (talk) 16:46, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Jewel Out, Holly Madison In[edit]

it's being reported that Jewel has pulled out of the competition due to tendinitis in her knees. The reports say that Girl Next Door Holly Madison will replace her —Preceding unsigned comment added by Riiiiight101 (talkcontribs) 17:41, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

Nancy Odell Out[edit]

On the official site under Nancy's bio it states that due to a torn maniscus she has had to withdraw from the competition. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Riiiiight101 (talkcontribs) 22:42, 5 March 2009 (UTC)

How do we know when the first elimination is?[edit]

Okay, I've never actually seen proof that they're not eliminating anyone until Week 2. Because I know that this season is 11 weeks, so they'd either have to do a double elimination to have the first elimination be Week 2, or that info is wrong. Can someone help? Onesmallnote (talk) 01:17, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Well, I think that we'll have one elimination on 1st week. On a wednesday (11) result show. Caslusfilho (talk) 22:23, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

That's what I think too! Okay, just making sure I'm not alone. Onesmallnote (talk) 00:42, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Actually, since there is no show on 3/10, as in no second dance night, they must only be doing one dance this week, and then that whole dance-off like ABC announced after all 13 dances. Onesmallnote (talk) 01:52, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

NO SHOW ON 3/10[edit]

Okay, so I checked the ABC schedule. There is no episode on 3/10/09 which screws up this whole idea of two dance nights. And it's not like they can do 26 dances in one night. Just to inform everyone, because I'm gonna go change the charts now. Onesmallnote (talk) 01:45, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Steve-O and Lacey's First Dance Song[edit]

Steve-O and Lacey's first dance was on Vito's Waltz from the Godfather not the Godfather Theme Song. -- JaterGirl (talk) 11:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. :) Onesmallnote (talk) 21:54, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

You Light Up My Life[edit]

Altho Grier did dance to this song, that was not the Whitney Houston version. Unfortunately, I do not whose it was ... anybody? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.65.251.208 (talk) 00:49, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

Debby Boone?97.100.2.117 (talk) 03:13, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I put it as Whitney Houston because that is what is on the Dancing with the Stars "About the Music" page on abc.com. All songs listed, both names and artists, are what is on that site. 24.136.192.51 (talk) 01:58, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Is Woz's Week 3 score notable?[edit]

After checking the previous seasons, Woz and Karina's score of 10 is the second lowest in show history. Only Master_P and Ashly_DelGrosso's Paso Doble in Week 2 of Season 2 was given a lower score, an 8. Should this be noted in the article? Rascalb (talk) 01:51, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I agree, it is. I like where it is posted currently, in the season notes under the scoring chart, similar to what there is on the Season 6 page. Onesmallnote (talk) 04:19, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Life is a Highway[edit]

I know that the most recent version of the song is likely the most popular at the moment (ie Rascal Flatts), but Life is a Highway should be listed as a Tom Cochrane song I would think --RedKnight (talk) 21:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Cochrane did indeed write the song and had the original version, but ABC lists it as being the Rascal Flatts version that was performed (even though they are nearly identical). Here is the link for ABC's list: http://abc.go.com/primetime/dancingwiththestars/index?pn=aboutmusic#t=0. This difference occurs for other songs too, but ABC has their own way of listing the artist and we mirror that list. Thanks for asking though. --Mtjaws (talk) 23:24, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Call-Out Order Chart[edit]

I recognize that every US season since the fifth has included a call-out order chart. But does such a chart add anything at all to the article? Tom Bergeron almost always explicitly states that the stars are called out "in no particular order," with the obvious exception that one of the bottom two will be called last. Unlike, say, Top Model, where the order in which women are called reflects the judges' ranking of their pictures that week, the order in which the stars are called out is totally meaningless. I do not think the chart provides any information that is not already available in other charts within the article. Does someone have an argument for why the chart should remain? --DavidK93 (talk) 17:22, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

It's true. As the bottom two is alrady been posted, think this topic is not necessary. Caslusfilho (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
I just kind of like having it, even if it's not adding anything to the page. I'm an analytical person, so I like seeing the order for each week to see if there really is a pattern in the "not in any particular order". But it doesn't matter to me if someone takes it off, I have it saved to my computer. Onesmallnote (talk) 23:39, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Based on this discussion, I went ahead and deleted it. --DavidK93 (talk) 00:06, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Someone reverted my edit a couple of days later, so I deleted it again. Per our discussion here last month, such a chart adds no information. I noticed that the encore dance couple may not be indicated elsewhere, but that information could easily be added to one of the other charts that already provides other encyclopedic information, perhaps the listings of dance order and music. --DavidK93 (talk) 17:45, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Every season should have a Call-Out Chart. Whitestorm13 (talk) 17:13, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Boyz II Men medley[edit]

Since Boyz II Men performed a medley of Motown hits, plus their own song, shouldn't the songs be listed as one row, separated by slashes? None of the three songs were sung completely, so keeping them separate can be misleading, IMO. Pages for previous seasons keep them separate, but I feel that those are probably "merge" worthy too, especially if they were medleys. Divided song performances should be separate, but medleys shouldn't. Anyone agree? --Mtjaws (talk) 23:03, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

For me, it's two things; a) to keep with the format of other pages, like you said, and b) to save page space and keep from stretching the table. But that's just me. Onesmallnote (talk) 06:39, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Order of Elimination[edit]

Is there a reason why the table of couples specifies only which couples are still participating and not "Eliminated 1st," etc. for the eliminated couples (who remain in the correct order, just without that notation)? I noticed at least one edit to restore those notations was undone. I notice no discussion about it here, but I will not edit it to replace the notations without confirmation that there is no reason they should not be restored. --Jeopardyfish (talk) 01:56, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't get why someone took it off. I restored it before I saw this posting. Onesmallnote (talk) 02:29, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

No Bottom 2 revealed 4/14[edit]

Although Ty and Chelsie were the last pair left with Steve-O and Lacey, Tom stated that they were not necessarily in the bottom 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.8.40 (talk) 22:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, yes, I went in and changed the background on the scoring chart for them to show that they were not necessarily in the bottom two last night. It's been taken care of. :) Onesmallnote (talk) 00:05, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Dance - Off[edit]

What is this about a dance-off this summer between Shawn, Gilles & Melissa? Are any sources avaiable to confirm that a dance-off is happening this summer? 98.21.217.42 (talk) 00:45, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I don't think so. It shouldn't be added to the article unless cited. Whitestorm13 (talk) 17:11, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Dance Average Chart[edit]

Belinda and Jonathan are not in the chart I think you should fix it even though she came in last place she deserves at least some apreciation don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.248.89.208 (talk) 22:24, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

They have been added in. Whitestorm13 (talk) 17:09, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Showing All Stars in Title card[edit]

I think we should show who participated in the all-star season in the title card like survivor (u.s tv series) wikipedia pages do. I don't know how to do it so someone else would have to. 74.109.218.111 (talk) 02:33, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
