Merger Proposal[edit]

I propose we merge the article for the borough into this one for the council. Unlike most other towns with a borough and town article the population of Darlington's borough is roughly 90% in the town itself. Which is similar to some other towns like York and Sheffield which only have one article. Eopsid (talk) 18:04, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support reverse merge but merge this article to the borough article instead. Although the town has the vast majority of the population it seems to satisfy every criteria (other than the "large area" one) at WP:UKDISTRICTS see User:Crouch, Swale/District split#Others to be separate however I'd agree that we don't need an article for the council its self (again per WP:UKDISTRICTS) since most of the content here also applies to the district its self. Like Mansfield District its usual to have the district rather than council, Sheffield and York format seems to be less common anyway and it makes it easier when referring to places in the borough to say its in the borough rather than council. Sheffield actually has three articles: Sheffield, City of Sheffield and Sheffield City Council. York has two at York and City of York Council with City of York redirecting to York. If you do this then you are effectively saying that the whole unitary authority area should be covered by the Darlington article including places several miles from urban Darlington like Heighington, County Durham. 2A00:23C7:7B18:9600:1C77:D703:3C2B:1C1E (talk) 17:13, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
