Incorrect panel type info for 3008WFP?[edit]
I have tagged the 3008WFP entry with Citation Needed. According to macro photos taken by HardOCP members here, the panel has the pixel structure of an H-IPS panel.
Advertisement?[edit]
This seems like it is intended to advertise for these moniters. There is not even an attempt at NPOV.
Currently, I nominate this article for deletion. It just needs too much work to save, and even if do save it, it is not different enough to require its own page and should be merged with Dell. --CTwkipedier 02:36, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- yes, it probably should be merged to Dell. Once it's put in table format that will be possible. --MarSch 09:53, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

- Article should be kept and rewritten to look more like Apple Displays. — Wackymacs 16:46, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

- No, it's almost impossible to find any sane trustworthy comparison of monitors. However, the really important differences (TN vs. PVA panel, 6-bit vs. 8-bit, audio output jacks or not, pivotable into portrait mode or not) aren't covered - for the article to be useful all these things need to be listed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.177.84.149 (talk) 10:00, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's useful to have all this available at a glance. User5910 (talk) 07:47, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- I find this article incredibly useful for work; I'm easily able to differentiate what Dell monitors are HDCP compliant and which are not. --Selphish (talk) 00:30, 26 October 2012 (UTC)
table[edit]
The specifications should probably be laid out in a table. --MarSch 09:44, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Reviews[edit]
How about linking some reviews done by the users in forums and bigger tech sites?? I think that'd add balance to this page. RadicalSatDude 20:27, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Clean Up[edit]
My god this page was a mess... I've gone through and cleaned it up a bit, but theres still a fair bit of work to be done - I'm not entirely sure the Service Menu section is needed here at all, but i've reworded it slightly to make it make a bit more sense. The notes section on the table seems pointless to me, but I'm not willing to remove it without consent. Lets get this page in order. Smartaalec 10:44, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Please don't remove the Service Menu information... it just saved me a lot of hassle! Lorand 18:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Release/discontinue Dates[edit]
The chart is very helpful, but would be MUCH better if it included release and discontinued dates on the models. Shubopshadangalang (talk) 22:25, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Models with frequent failures[edit]
I've added a reference for the E172FPb power supply failure into the table. Of the six that have passed across my desk, five failed due to a common failure in the backlight portion of the BenQ-manufactured power supply. Repair instructions from at least two websites indicate that the one or more of the four primary transistors in this part of the power supply have a tendency to short out and must be replaced. Comments attached to these websites suggest a very high failure rate. The previous claim attached to this entry that "1 out of 3" will fail is not opinion, though it is also not necessarily accurate. Between that claim, my own experience, and those of other owners of this monitor, I would estimate that around 75% of all E172FPb's sold are doomed to fail from this issue.Vanessaezekowitz (talk) 17:52, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
Recent reformatting by SixSix makes this page much less usable[edit]
You have completely screwed up this page. It used to be a good reference where you could see useful information at a glance. Now you've enlarged the table by filling it with empty space, so you have to scroll both down and sideways to find the information. Craptastic. Sbs9 (talk) 11:03, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Photo[edit]
Surely we can get a better photo than one of a Saitek keyboard? 80.192.120.114 (talk) 10:50, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Missing Monitor[edit]
The U2211 has an external link but is not on the list. Should it not be on the list? MartinezMD (talk) 04:24, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
[edit]
This is a reference copy of the Service menus section that was previously a part of this article. ~ Atomic Taco (talk) 23:15, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Certain Dell monitors have a hidden service menu, which may only be accessed with a special procedure. Please be warned that changing the service menu items is generally not a good idea.
The general procedure for monitors manufactured in 2005 or earlier is as follows [e.g. 2005FPW]:
- Press and hold the "AUTO" & "+" button (some models use "ENTER" and "+" button), then power on the monitor.
- Once the monitor is on, press the "MENU" button to open the osd menu.
- Now, in the osd menu, go to "factory reset" and you can see at the bottom of menu have an extra menu item named "FACTORY".
- Go to that "FACTORY" selection and press the "ENTER" button.
- You are now in the Dell service menu.
The general procedure for monitors manufactured after 2005 is as follows [e.g. 2007FPW]:
- Press and hold the "AUTO" & "+" button (some models use "ENTER" and "+" button), then power on the monitor. Keep holding all three buttons until the monitor is fully on.
- After the monitor is on, release the buttons and press the "-" button.
- The factory service menu should appear.
The Dell 1901FP service menu can be accessed as follows:
- Turn the monitor off.
- Press and hold the MENU and "-" buttons (the two left most buttons), then power the monitor on.
- Press [MENU] and two new yellow tags should appear on the title bar of the main menu. If not try again.
- Enter Factory Reset option at bottom
- Select the Factory option at the following menu.
- To exit this mode power off then on again.
Dell SE198WFP service menu can be accessed as follows:
- Turn the monitor off.
- Press and hold the [MENU] and [+] buttons (second and fourth), then power the monitor on.
- The green LED in the power button should now be flashing on and off. If not try again.
- Press the MENU (left) button.
- You are now in the service menu.
- To exit this mode power off then on again.
UltraSharp[edit]
There's no information in the article about the UltraSharp(TM) thing. Is it some Dell's technology, or just a trademark, or what?
Funny that I got redirected to this page from Ultrasharp entry.
As a matter of fact, I couldn't find on the web anything defining or describing UltraSharp beside some guesses...
Table is messed up[edit]
The table headings doesn't match the info in it. There seems to be two different tables merged into one without regards to the content, thus the sort function doesn't work.
