West Germany[edit]

Schrempff was born in the Federal Republic of Germany. A country named West Germany never existed. The FRG incorporated the five new Bundesländer (states) after reunification (cf. here). So the country in which Leverkusen lies never changed its name since Schrempff was born. It is only ever since reunification that people refer to the FRG as Germany since the opposing GDR (or 'East Germany') doesn't exist any longer (see here: '"Since, the current 16-state Federal Republic of Germany is simply called Germany."'). Therefore, there is no ambiguity in writing Germany as it nowadays only refers to the FRG - the country in which Schrempff was born. ´Jellotrees —Preceding comment was added at 13:27, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Here's the thing[edit]

The IMDb is quite thorough about these things, and I've seen absolutely no independent evidence that predates this Wikipedia article whatsoever that suggests that either the Married... With Children or German soap opera things are true. On the contrary, we have Mr. Schrempf himself saying that he had never previously appeared in a television program[1] Frankly, this should be an abject humiliation for Wikipedia -- we had blatantly incorrect, poorly and incorrectly or simply unsourced material, and it wasn't noticed or corrected until the article was mocked on national TV. We screwed up, guys. Try to prevent the damage from spreading further.-- (talk) 04:44, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
