Video walk around devin castle[edit]

--DreamoshCom (talk) 14:14, 31 October 2014 (UTC) Hi, can I add to external link, link to video walk around castle devin? http://dreamosh.com/map/1002 (Please TURN ON Java Script. It using Googla Maps API + Youtube API)[reply]

I've restored the link as I think it's useful. As someone who is generally interested in castles, it makes a great deal of sense to have a tour and it really gives you a sense of the place in a way which still images sometimes struggle to do so. If you want to release the image under a Creative Commons licence that would be even better as it could be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and embedded directly into this article, but as it stands it is perfectly fine to link to the video. Etymology[edit]

Hi Pentakon, some comments:

  1. You cite Bratislavské noviny for the following sentence: "According to the newer research from the year 2014...". However, this source (non-academic local journal) does not contain a single word about the "new research from 2014".
  2. You cite a documentary movie - Misia bratov Konštantína a Metoda [The Mission of Brothers Constantine and Methodius]. I watched the movie, but I did not catch such information (maybe it's there, but tell me the exact time). If you want to cite "..Dowina, id est puella..." then it would be better to cite some written work (of course, such inscription exists).
  3. You should not remove other reliable sources and you should also take into account that this contemporary record is well-known to any serious linguist who studies local place names. However, it does not mean that such etymology is correct or reliable. An early medieval author (who was not a linguist) could rely on a random similarity with the Slavic word deva or on a folk etymology. Ditinili (talk) 19:18, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
