US Code[edit]

A search for "domestic violence" in the US Code produces this. I haven't looked through it all. James500 (talk) 22:21, 2 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why aren't there any women directed at men statistics? Bumblebritches57 (talk) 03:13, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Update the statistics.[edit]

with male abuse victims, this page is a general, gender neutral one, and ignoring half the victims because feminists will attack you, is weak, pathetic, and worst of all completely ignoring the job of creating an accurate wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bumblebritches57 (talkcontribs) 13:17, 31 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It does seem to cop out completely on delivering statistics broken down by race (impossible because of other factors!). Impossible? Just deliver the statistics, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.251.124.53 (talk) 12:04, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Violence against children[edit]

Why is violence against (your own) children not included in domestic violence? My common sense would dictate that falls under 'domestic' also. If the article's given definition really is the most accepted one, then the article could benefit from a short etymology of the term. --82.128.250.221 (talk) 02:08, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is the photo under "Incidence" really necessary?[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:20081123120727-violencia-de-genero.jpg -- Is this photo really necessary? It adds little to nothing to the article, and strikes me as being in poor taste. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.31.86.213 (talk) 20:57, 14 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Incidence[edit]

So in the incidence section, specifically discussing police, ot is posited "meaning the rate could be the same as that of the general public". Given the inconsistency of the statistical reporting, and the lack of any caveats given around the difficulty in acquiring data related to this (for various reasons: insular culture, the social bias intrinsic in the reporting methods of the research, etc.) It might be advisable to include at least the national (U.S. given the referenced studies) statistic on domestic violence in the general public nearby. This isn't a contest of the applicability of the more modern statistics (the 80s paper is most certainly not reflective of the current climate) but more context m8ght be needed to present a more nuanced view. As it is, the bit immediately proceeding about the importance if the issue reads as entirely an afterthought, put in to avoid the need to actually engage with anything. 2600:387:C:6E11:0:0:0:7 (talk) 06:35, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

Expanding the "History" section would be a constructive step. It's currently lacking discussion on the reform laws implemented during the 1980s under President Reagan, a period when domestic violence garnered significant attention and had profound effects on women. Similarly, addressing the reform acts enacted during President Clinton's tenure would provide valuable context for understanding the evolution of women's issues during that era. History and Global Sections[edit]

This article has a confusing structure, and would benefit from changing the subheadings to organize the content. The “History” and “Global” sections also lack sufficient information, and can be further developed to inform the reader. Specifically, the article touches on the Violence Against Women Act in numerous places, but fails to accurately describe the legislation in depth. In addition to this, some of the information needs to be updated as the VAWA was reauthorized in 2022. Jbains03 (talk) 01:40, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
