I do not agree for deletion. Of course Lopez is an important person of our time, he has published a lot and is seen as a high scholar in religious studies as well as among Buddhists. What else I can say as an argument against speey deletion? --Kt66 00:35, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:BIO and WP:PROFTEST and edit the article so that it is obvious the subject meets the requirements (he probably does) within the next five days, and then remove the {{dated prod}} tag, and your article will be kept. Speedy (immediate) deletion has already been denied. If you remove the {{dated prod}} without making changes to the article, it might be nominated for deletion with discussion, which also takes five days. Categorization[edit]

Is this fellow a Buddhist or does he simply study Buddhism? I ask because I couldn't decide whether to add him to the category "Buddhists". RedRollerskate 21:40, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Academic Title[edit]

I recently received an email from Dr. Lopez identifying him as the Arthur E. Link Distinguished University Professor of Buddhist and Tibetan Studies, and a UM press release from Jan 2006 similarly identifies him. Web references to the title as given in the article, however, are numerous. I am guessing the sponsorship of the chair somehow changed (are these getting to be like baseball parks?); perhaps the title as given should be included parenthetically with the modifier "formerly." Since I need to reply to his email, I guess I will ask him this, and make the change or not depending on his reply, but I am adding this note in case someone has another thought and as a reminder to myself to follow up. Dharmic writer?[edit]

I'm guessing that most Religious Studies scholars would object to a label like this. He is not writing "Dharmic" texts, only about them. I think this label should be removed, as one should distinguish between authors of primary sources and those who study them. --Joechip123 (talk) 22:30, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
