Lt/Rt equations[edit]

Are the Lt/Rt equations right? Shouldn't the left/right contributions from the surround channels be out of phase with each other? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.236.42.0 (talk) 17:28, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

They are out-of-phase with each other; that is what the minus sign does. While the article mentions that the surround channels are phase shifted by 90° relative to the front channels, it does not make this clear. Unfortunately, 90° phase shifting cannot be done with simple downmixing. HairyWombat 22:49, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
