There is a disparity here:

"...the dukedom went to the Della Rovere papal family, who held it until 1625, when Pope Eugene IV annexed to the Papal States as Legazione del Ducato di Urbino (later Legazione di Urbino)."

Eugene IV was not the pope in 1625 but in the 1400s. The pope was Urban VIII.

I found three different dates for this reversion, so I'm leaving that morsel for now

I have changed the date of 1471 (which is wrong) to 23 August 1474, for the year when Federico da Montefeltro became Duke. See, for instance, "Storia dei Conti e Duchi D'Urbino di Filippo Ugolini" Accademia Rafaello -Urbino, 2008. Vol I p.504 "Avevagli il papa (Sixtus IV) gia promesso crearlo duca (e cio fece con bolla dei 23 agosto 1474).. " there follows a note which refers you to the Fondo Urbinate of the Archivio Statale di Firenze. signed Darius Sikorski —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.13.239.239 (talk) 09:58, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Papal sovereignty

[edit]

Wasn't this a substate of the Papal state throughout? Gerard von Hebel (talk) 17:37, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Duchesses only?

[edit]

Why are we only listing the spouses of the Duke's here? Wasn't it the Dukes who ruled Urbino? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.85.195.254 (talk) 20:53, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That seems strange indeed. Of course there were Dukes. Perhaps a wrong list was added to this article by mistake? Gerard von Hebel (talk) 21:13, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
