Domesday[edit]

My copy tells me about Henry de Ferrers and Duffield and mentions woodland, but makes no ref to Duffield Frith. Suggest current wording is a bit strong Victuallers 13:59, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Duffield Frith was an area reserved for hunting by the nobility and royalty. I'd have to consult an expert on the Domesday Book, but maybe it was more a record og population and "capital assets" Chevin 06:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It was one of a number of Royal Parks. I shall have to do some research sometime, but another was the Peak - Peveril and Bolsover Castles, possibly Sherwood. I think Derby was part of another hence the "Buck in the Park" which was the emblem of Derby before the snail. Chevin 19:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
