Split Page?[edit]

Should this page be split in two, one on the Dumfries and Galloway area, and one on Dumfries and Galloway Council? In a similar style to Glasgow and Glasgow City Council. (Jacqueline2008 (talk) 11:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC))

No. Glasgow exists independently of Glasgow Council. Dumfries and Galloway only exists as the area administered by Dumfries and Galloway Council. - Crosbiesmith (talk) 18:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough. It just seems as if greater clarity could be manifested between the politics and the actual area info for the Scottish Unitary Council areas, as exists for the cities. And the area Dumfries and Galloway existed, and was acknowledged as a distinct area before Dumfries and Galloway Council or it's 1996 predecessor existed. (Jacqueline2008 (talk) 20:03, 20 May 2008 (UTC))
Not in Galloway, it wasn't; not in the Stewartry. Galloway is an ancient historic region, not an appendage of Dumfries. The name is a clumsy bureaucratic chimera. Even the weather is distinct! — Preceding unsigned comment added by JF42 (talkcontribs) 14:19, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

could somebody please mention the village of templand? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.16.228.227 (talk) 18:37, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

IPA[edit]

Is the Gaelic version "Dùn Phris is an Gall-Ghaidhealaibh" correct? (It has been changed around a few times.) If it is correct, the IPA pronunciation should be updated accordingly - it reflects the older "Dùn Phris agus an Gall-Ghaidhealaibh"! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.130.39.235 (talk) 20:20, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Merge[edit]

It has been suggested that Hoddom be merged to this page. If you check the Hoddom page you'll see that the only information on it is that it is a settlement at Dumfries and Galloway. DaffyBridge (talk) 19:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
