On what scale is the ideal Ekman Spiral formed? Is it ocean-wide (and thus a gyre, essentially)? Or is hurricane-sized, or tornado-sized, or what? I know that all sorts of conditions exist to prevent perfect Ekman Spirals from forming, but when they do occur, what size are they? (talk) 06:54, 23 September 2008 (UTC)RKH

Think there should be a definition or link for "pendulum day" used in article. —DIV ( 01:41, 19 March 2007 (UTC))

Ekman spiral and Ekman layer refer to somewhat different phenomena and should not be merged. --Drphysics 16:35, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

how do I add this image from wikitravel?

Ekman Spiral diagram is incorrect[edit]

This diagram is incorrect. The Coriolis force (4) should always be at 90 degrees to the current (3) at each depth. Frictional forces are also required to complete the balance and avoid time-dependent flow. Lastly, the decay with depth should be exponential, not linear. (talk) 23:58, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
