Fair use rationale for Image:Elf Poster.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:Elf Poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

We are editing this page as part of an english assignment to help improve our writing skills.=== University of Mississippi (Fall 2009) === We decided that this film page needs alot of work. We are going to lengthen the plot summary, add the soundtrack section, production section to include when and where is was filmed and how much money was made. We also wanted to add a reception section to show the viewers about awards that were won. We also thought that the introduction should be elaborated on, and there needs to be more external links/references. And we felt that the cast needed to be more descriptive for each character. --Meredith allen (talk) 17:51, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Improving the article[edit]

I have recently improved and updated this article, but I was wondering if anyone can help improve it more, by finding references or suggesting other pieces of information that should go in the article. - JuneGloom07 (talk) 20:11, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

I have shrunk the plot down a bit, hopefully someone else can come in and clean it up a bit more.  Travis McCrea (T)(C) 06:50, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

Who says they got married?[edit]

The end showed them with a kid. Doesn't mean they got married. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.92.106.75 (talk) 18:09, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Removed this.  Travis McCrea (T)(C) 06:50, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

production segment needs major improvement[edit]

As it is now, it is just jumbled factoids. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.67.106.1 (talk) 12:11, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Film Plot Size[edit]

I just had a look at the film's plot size and it's way too long. Film plots should be in between 400 and 700 words. Anyone agree with my suggestion? --86.12.177.189 (talk) 16:37, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

I agree with you. The plot has gone over the Plot size limit! It needs to be trimmed back to the word count limit for all film plots. --TPercival (talk) 19:29, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
I hacked and slashed to get it down to 800 words, but ideally it should be 400-700 per WP:FILMPLOT. --Ahecht (TALK

Perspective details wanted.[edit]

The article states: "The movie makes heavy use of forced perspective to exaggerate the size of Buddy compared to all the other elves." Are there sources that describe further how the film makers accomplished this? Maybe even illustrative photos from which to create diagrams? It's a fascinating subject. (I have no access to film industry journals.) Thank you for your time, Wordreader (talk) 06:23, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Changes made?[edit]

Why were these items deleted?

1. Cancelled Sequel

Apparently, Will Ferrell was originally offered the role of buddy for a sequel following the film's success. However, when Ferrell backed out and decided not to return for a sequel all plans were cancelled as the studio felt that they couldn't make a sequel without him.

2. Elf was the topic of conversation more than a couple of time on the Howard Stern show because of cast member Artie Lange's involvement with the film.

Untrue? Uncited? Poorly written? The reference to the radio show was insignificant? (The "apparently" would have needed to go, anyhow.) I don't see a given reason for the changes.

Also, regarding: "Papa Elf names his son William, but for short he calls him Buddy." - when the baby is found, he is wearing diapers that say something to the effect "Buddy (something) Diapers". The elves assume that his name is Buddy. I don't remember any explanation of Papa Elf naming him William Hobbs, Buddy for short. What scene included that information?

Further edits[edit]

I have seen many edit summaries caused by anonymous users in the plot section. Furthermore, vandalism has happened too often in this article. Shouldn't we propose about protecting the page from anymore vandalism and unnecessary editing? This is really just too much. --TPercival (talk) 11:50, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
