Untitled[edit]

Since the 2006 edition of the Eurovision took place on Saturday 20th May, and Malta's entry, sung by local singer Fabrizio Faniello, placed last in the contest, many, mostly Maltese have bitter opinions about the singer, and about the contest as a whole. Therefore, this article has, in the last few days, been much more than usually edited, many times by biased people who seem to have negative personal ideas about the person in question, and are therefore not writing un-biased and accurate/cited information. This is especially worsened by the fact that a search for "Fabrizio Faniello" in Google will turn up his Wikipedia page as the second search result, leading many users unaware of Wikipedia and it's policies to edit the page.

The page should probably be revised in a couple of weeks, and correct, cited and un-biased information should be added regarding the Eurovision 2006.

Moreover, the article should not be so heavily focussed on the Eurovision 2006, and should include more information about the singer himself.

If anybody really cares that is :S

I agree with you. I am actually a resident of the USA who followed the Eurovision Song Contest this year. I had heard about it in previous years, but this was my first time really watching and enjoying it. That said, I became interested in many of the acts I saw there and have been disappointed that so many articles on the artists focus on their Eurovision contributions without giving other important career details. I don't have much ability to help contribute to articles, including Fabrizio's, but I do support having their content reworked in the manner you suggested. GassyGuy 05:24, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I might accept that the article is not neutral, but not that it contains false information. Why is the article marked as "The factual accuracy of this article is disputed"?
Quote; "Eurovision fans, both Maltese and non-Maltese, supporting Fabrizio deemed this result highly "disappointing", blaming the outcome on a dismal, out of key performance, compounded by a kitsch costume usually associated with Fabio Lanzoni on the cover of a cheap romance novel." Linking his result to his "costume usually associated with Fabio Lanzoni..." isn't reflecting fact - I haven't heard this anywhere, it seems to be the opinion of the person who added it to wikipedia. There have in fact been a number of comments on the costume that Fabrizio adorned during his performance. Terry Wogan commented on the notion that the Maltese idea of modernity is lagging by about 30 years. Daphne Caruana Galizia referred to this statement by Wogan saying he was spot on and that the idea of male sexiness, at least for the Maltasong board is that of a 1970s spanish waiter. In addition, given the well-known and publicised fact about Malta's, or rather, Maltasong's keeness for the Eurovision, it was taken that the choice of costume was done with serious intention and not in the tongue-in-cheek spirit now inherent in the Eurovision. This makes the performer - in this case, Faniello - look kitsch and dated. Noone can say for certain the extent of the impact this has had on the voting, but it has had an impact nonetheless given Wogan's as well as others' documented comments. Of course this information needs to be cited with the relevant sources.
Terry Wogan should keep his big mouth shut! Doesn't Wogan have some mirrors at his home? Fabrizio was one of the best dressed male singers! And he have the best pair of eyebrows in Europe! So, Wogan shut up!!!!

D D C comments:

This said Fabrizio Faniello should look elsewhere, he will never make it big, he's short, lacks looks, and a decent voice. the last thing he should be is a singer. the maximum this guy can do is do saturday night shows at the local pub. its surprising how long he's been allowed to carry on. The educated Maltese in fact heavily dislike him, and it being a matter of social class he's noted as a 'hamallu' translated as a mere uneducated and ignorant person. The south of Malta cheered for Faniello, the north of Malta cheered for Malta. FACT!

Fabrizio Faniello also ruined Olivia Lewis' chances of making it at all, since he ruined all the past performers outcomes by coming last. due to this Malta will have to repeat the tribulation of attending the semi-finals again. god help Malta!

MALTA CAN ONLY WIN THE EUROVISION, WITH SOMEONE LIKE 'IRA LOSCO' AND IRA LOSCO ONLY. FORGET THE UNATTRACTIVE 'CHIARA', FORGET THE PUNY LOOKING FANIELLO MIDGET, SEX SELLS, POINT BLANK. WHEN IS MALTA GOING TO REALISE THIS? A NATURE BRIMMING WITH CULTURE SHOULD USE THAT AS AN ADVANTAGE BUT THROUGH A TRULY ATTRACTIVE AND TALENTED SINGER, I.E. IRA LOSCO. THE BOARD SHOULD BEG IRA LOSCO TO TRY NEXT YEAR. AND WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS LAST TIME SHE CAME 2ND, WITH A BIT MORE EFFORT AND PROMOTION LEARNT FROM PAST MISTAKES, MALTA WILL DO IT, BUT WE'LL WAIT TILL 2008 FOR THAT. RESOLUTION? BRING BACK IRA LOSCO OR SOMEONE WITH HER TALENTS. GERMANY LOVES HER, MALTA LOVES HER, AND THE REST WILL VOTE FOR HER SEXYNESS AND TALENT.
