Participating nations at the 1913 games[edit]

Is there any evidence that teams from Hong Kong, Thailand and the "British East Indies" took part in the 1913 Games. Daniel Bell's book, referred to in the article, only lists China, Japan and the Philippines participating until the Dutch East Indies joined in 1934. Ian Buchanan's book, "A Handbook of Far Eastern & Asian Games Track and Field Athletics" mentions the small size of the Japanese team in 1913 and therefore "the Games were virtually a dual match between China and the Philippines". Detailed results (beyond the medallists) of athletics in that publication list no participants other than from China, Japan and the Philippines. Similarly, results of other sports on Wikipedia include no other nations in 1913.

There was no entity named the "British East Indies" which seems to have been a colloquial term for several British possesions in the area. There is no reference in the British or Singapore press to a team from British Malaya taking part. The best online source seems to be this one:

In that article the address of Philippines Governor-General W. Cameron Forbes at the opening ceremony in 1913 is recounted, and he only welcomed athletes from China, Japan and the Philippines.
