Second village vs. third village

[edit]

RE: "Some sources (e.g. Graham), claim it is the third village to bear the name"

The "third village" theory is the one stated in the 1845 Statistical Account of Scotland. Edit by Derekacameron.

Graham has the 1845 Account in his bibliography and no doubt this is the source of the comment. However, Ross (1992) does a pretty good job of identifying the myth as stemming from the earlier disappearance of a few farms on the eastern edge of the Culbin Forest. To the best of my knowledge there is no reliable evidence for a 'third' village. Ben MacDui 20:12, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
