Untitled[edit]

According to BBC this flag has changed again. Chapium 12:02, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The sources I used for the flag change was the Lesotho Government; the new image is up already (since Oct 3rd), but you need to perform a cache refresh in order to see the change. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 13:33, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1986 or 1987?[edit]

This line: "A new design was adopted on 20 January, 1986" contradicts the pictures and text at the bottom that says the flag was changed in 1987, which is correct? - MTC 05:20, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it's 1987. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 05:22, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flag Change is bad[edit]

For a state to arbitrarily change its flag too many times - despite being the same regime - in my opinion is to hinder that country's political enculturalization and socialization ... in other words, alienating and confusing the populace. Le Anh-Huy 06:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One thing to also note, this is going to cost nearly 50,000 of the Lesotho currency to make this flag change happen. There will be a lot of other things thr gov't will pay for to announce the flag change. That money could have been used elsewhere where it will have more of a benefit towards the populace. Is this really the place to discuss such things? I thought this page for discussion of the article. Romis 13:58, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but the likelyhood of the flag being discussed will be small, so I do not mind this little exchange. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 19:00, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like the old flag better

BBC used Wikipedia image[edit]

I sent the BBC a message using their feedback form:

You have an article "Lesotho unfurls 'peaceful' flag", yet no picture of the new flag. You can find one on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Lesotho
There is also a better quality image of the old flag on Wikipedia as well.
Hope this helps.

They replied:

Thanks for that. It has been added.

The BBC article now has a credit: The hat was also on Lesotho's first flag (Pic: Zach Harden, Wikipedia)

The first flag had Basotho National Party colors[edit]

@SpinnerLaserzthe2nd: According to fotw, the reason why the first flag of Lesotho adopted in 1966 was relinquished in 1987 is because it had the same exact blue-white-red-green colors seen on the flag of the Basotho National Party, (the Basotho National Party is a political party that ruled Lesotho until a 1986 military coup).

Should this fact be added on this article?
