Untitled[edit]

No Albert Pujols? His baseball salary alone is well over $20 million. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.120.193.102 (talk) 18:40, 12 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracies[edit]

The list isn't accurate. I don't know why it is, but it's not even close. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:56, 12 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just checked against the Forbes site 'referenced' at the bottom of the page on Sept. 15, it's wildly inaccurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.212.247.129 (talk) 21:34, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Ronaldo earns about 20 million, not 80--188.230.142.126 (talk) 13:59, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's certainly innaccurate or it'd be full of roman charioteers. [1]'A Cabinet of Roman Curiosities' mentions another charioteer, Marcus Aurelius Mollecius Tatianus, winning 80000 sesterces over just two races, which would be around 40million in today's money. 82.31.76.182 (talk) 12:02, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why is OK to publish this list?[edit]

I have been fighting off vandalism to this list for years, but now it has occurred to me to wonder why it's OK for us to be publishing this list. We are publishing the entire list, and there is no added commentary. So, isn't this essentially a copyright violation? Am I missing something?--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:18, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Did Diocles actually make enough money?[edit]

According to Gaius Appuleius Diocles#Winnings, "In equivalent basic good purchasing power, Diocles's wealth would be between approximately $60 million and $160 million.[1]"

The estimate of 15,000 million USD on this page is based off the modern value of an estimate of the weight of gold he was given... I'd argue buying power is a much more useful metric for comparing wealth. Diocles should probably be removed from this list. Thoughts? Киан (talk) 23:20, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think basketball is the most highly paid sport! Austine JohnMark (talk) 20:08, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Career earnings[edit]

hello everyone Please could we have an update on all time career earnings due to the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo has earnt over 1 billion now Carlom00 (talk) 20:08, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Carlom00: The problem is that Forbes only published 2017 a list of the all time earnings. You could create a List of wealthiest athletes and you have to research all the athletes wealth. For example:
Rank Name Sport Nation Net Worth
Million $
1 Michael Jordan Basketball United States United States 1.600 [1]
? Cristiano Ronaldo Football Portugal Portugal 500 [2]
? Roger Federer Tennis Switzerland Switzerland 450 [3]
So there is a lot of work to search all the net worth of all top athletes. --Malo95 (talk) 12:53, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
