He was just interviewed on BBC Radio 1 with Fern Cotton, who had apparently gotten some facts about him from this page, which he then corrected. He said his middle name was actually not Algernon but Edgar, and that he went to school in Birmingham, not moving to Portsmouth until he was aged 20 or 21. (Saturday 21st July 2007)

Its pronounced "Dineage" but spelt with a second 'n' - the second 'n' is silent. I heard him being introduced when he was on Southern Television enough times to know how it's pronounced, although, I also thought the additional 'n' was wrong until I saw his name spelt correctly. Ah, the halcyon days of Southern TV - still greatly missed, if only by me. Trying to get home from school by 4:25 in order not to miss the start of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea or Timeslip or The Tomorrow People, then followed by the ITN News and Day by Day with Barry Westwood with Trevor Baker doing the weather. Then, on Fridays after Day by Day, Scene South East with Fred Dinenage or Mike Field or Chris Peacock, and the more local news. Weird link[edit]

I removed this link the other day. The registrant of the domain freddinenage.co.uk is "Golders Design Solutions", and the content when I visited it was simply a frame page linked to a BBC website by transclusion. In short, beyond the use of the name "Fred Dinenage" in the domain name, the website seems to have no demonstrable relevance to Fred Dinenage.

A bit of detective work finds a (possibly unrelated) domain goldersdesign.co.uk registered by a named individual. This is linked under the name "Golders Design Solutions" from a now-defunct geocities site that is preserved in the internet archive.

The link has been restored a couple of times. What's going on? --TS 20:56, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of "Meridian Tonight"[edit]

Someone has, presumably with the best of intentions, replaced all references to Meridian Tonight with ITV News Meridian. Unfortunately this has led to nonsense, such as... "He co-hosted "Coast To Coast" alongside Fern Britton and Mai Davies, and "ITV News Meridian" alongside Natasha Kaplinsky, Debbie Thrower, and Jane Wyatt." While these the were on screen with Feed, the programme was known as "Meridian Tonight" or (for daytime bulletins) "Meridian News". This is, by definition, rewriting history.
