Complete Rewrite Needed[edit]

This article implies that executing the functional test of a system as a step in the manufacturing process is a sensible thing to do. It isn't. It's what people do if they don't understand the objective of manufacturing test. A functional test is part of the design verification test that should be performed to make sure that the design meets all stakeholder requirements. To repeat, it is concerned with correctness of the design. In manufacturing test, you're concerned that the thing that you have build is an accurate replica of the design. There should be no doubt at this time that the design is correct. You just want to know that all the bits and pieces of the design are there, working and connected up properly. Repeating the functional test is going to be the least effective way to do this as it was created for a different purpose. If the whole thing is done, as it was at the end of development, the effort and cost will be astronomical. If it is cut down, coverage will suffer. The article should either make this clear or not exist at all. Unfortunately, I am a design engineer, not a test engineer, and therefore don't feel that I should do the rewrite.GrahamDavies (talk) 22:48, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

This page already references the functional test page, and does little to expand on the information available there other than to promote some vendors of equipment.WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:45, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Support. The description itself seems to indicate that FCT is a synonym. There appears to be a cluster of related items that today has no good home: functional test redirects to Acceptance testing and functional testing redirects to System testing. Surely there is a topic here, waiting to be teased out of the more general articles, but this article does not do that; even if it did, putting the content in functional test and having FCT (test) redirect there seems more appropriate. Don't merge. This is an article about electronics manufacturing test and not software testing. // User:Wellparp 2010-03-08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.237.142.10 (talk) 08:33, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirected[edit]

It was a copyvio since Aug 2015. I redirected it to a sort of suitable page. 203.109.162.133 (talk) 06:03, 13 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved it back, as posting an edit in the summary before moving a page is not appropriate procedure for moving an article. There needs to be a consensus-backed decision before moving an article. The copy/paste problem can also be solved with a simple change of words, which I just completed. Boomer VialHolla 12:42, 27 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
