So you want to help with the GLBT Aggies Wikipedia page? Great! There’s lots of work to be done, and I’m super happy you want to help! We’re trying to create a wiki page that can rival the likes of the singing cadets (Check out their wiki page – It looks great!)

First things first, please, please, please summarize your changes.

Another thing before you do anything else, please register with Wikipedia before you edit. That way you’ll be able to keep track of changes that have been made. It only takes a few minutes, and will save some headaches later. Now on to the outstanding tasks

1) Sources! – There has been a lot written about the GLBTA in the last year. Our page would be well enriched with additional sources. Wikipedia newbie? Don’t know how to format a source for Wikipedia? Use this source generator http://toolserver.org/~magnus/makeref.php It will give you some code to copy and paste into the article wherever the source should go.

2) Campus Activities – I know we’ve done a lot more than what is there right now. Let’s fill them in with all the other amazing things we’ve done around campus.

3) Weekly Meetings – Possibly create a section that documents all/some of the historic meeting topics of the GLBTA

4) Don’t let this page be an orphan! – We need to link to this page from many different places around Wikipedia. Certainly the main A&M page, other A&M student organizations, etc. Let our page spread across Wikipedia like herpes!

5) Update categories – The current categories were imported from another GLBT organization across the country. They’re a starting place, but could probably use updating

6) In Page links to other pages – Ex. gay lesbian etc.

7) Editing for grammar/syntax – Let’s make this page look as professional as possible!

8) Other Sections/ pictures/ more history/ whatever you can think of – The great part of Wikipedia is that it’s written by all of us! This list will keep changing and growing as the page matures.

I’m super excited to be working on this project with you all! This is a Wikipedia page, but more importantly this is the GLBTA wiki page. As we move forward creating something we can all be proud of, lets remember the safe zone rules. Listen and RESPECT, Speak using I terminology, Challenge by Choice, Vegas Rule, and the Aggie Honor Code.

Have fun! This is going to be a great project for all of us to work on during these lazy summer months, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Article looks good from an outsider's perspective, I went through and made some minor spelling/grammar/wordchoice changes. the_phoenix612 (talk) 05:03, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
