Turing in to brag page[edit]

This is funny I deleted that article on Ottawa earlier because it seemed like some idiot was maybe talking about some shit he heard of and making stuff up like some James Frey retard. Most of that should be deleted. Are there really Crips and Bloods in Canada? Really? Come on. Also there should be a mention of reserve gangs in the intro instead of "smaller centres" or whatever bullshit --Gin Rummy

Whoever Wrote this page is clearly from ottawa. Toronto has like 3 lines written about it and Ottawa has like a whole page. Hilarious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.206.255.242 (talk) 20:48, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little idiots are trying to put their own local riff-raff on the list of gangs to make themselves look cool. This could get stupid and out of hand. Therefore I'm removing all non-sourced material, and will keep doing so when more is added. Kevlar67 (talk) 20:47, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had no idea we had so many gangs in Ottawa! Just kidding. The "Ottawa" part of the article is badly written and contains no source. Should be edited... or deleted. 99.245.229.115 (talk) 01:33, 26 October 2008 (UTC) Xiaozhu[reply]

The Toronto section seems to have gotten a boost, complete with made up statistics and trash talk. It probably should also be deleted. 64.7.152.120 (talk) 10:57, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Ottawa has more gang activity than you might think. Not a lot of violence, but lots of drug activity arrests of Hell's Angels, particularly around Hull-Gatineau (just outside of Ottawa). This could be expanded on. Popslice (talk) 18:49, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can a French reader clean up the list of gang locations, please?[edit]

Another location was added for the bloods; I looked at the attached reference ([1]), but it doesn't seem to list that location for the bloods. Actually, several of the locations for both gangs are not listed, I think. However, since I don't read French and don't know the areas, I'm not certain enough to remove locations. Can a French speaker please check that article and remove all locations not explicitly listed? Any other locations are strictly original research, even if they are "true". Thanks. 23:34, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Link is now dead. Article may have been re-written since you asked this, but those are all neighborhoods in Montreal, if that helps. Some of them have had shootings. Not interested enough to look up references at the moment, but Le Devoir would be the place to look Elinruby (talk) 08:29, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think we shouyld just do a listing[edit]

A listing like the list of US gangs would be much easier and would make the page look a bit more organized. 70.50.210.104 (talk) 01:50, 22 February 2011 (UTC) We know gangs from the US are coming here as well.[reply]

Cleaning up the Toronto section[edit]

I just did a cleanup of Crime in Toronto — Youth Gangs section, and am going to remove anything I can't cite from the Toronto section of this page as well. Cycloth (talk) 21:21, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

clean up[edit]

have removed all the unsourced naming of people, gangs and crimes and restored the numbers as per the sources. --Moxy (talk) 09:08, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2016[edit]

I have trimmed this of much fanboy cruft and various nonsensical, verging on the bizarre, claims. But, frankly, it should be rewritten. There is absolutely no need for it to be as it is; at the moment, a list of cities with a sub-list of every ethnic group that particular city contains. It could all be bundled up in a general section. Also some of the sources are of dubious quality to day the least, and I have a suspicion that with a more forensic examination, some of these "sources" will be found to be not stating what they are being claimed to. It's now the end of July 2018 and yours was one of the last edits to this page. It needs serious updating by someone who cares about the news and the string of senseless tragedies in Surrey and elsewhere in Greater Vancouver recently and also since even 2016.
Wikipedia has a way with citing useless ethnic stats as if they painted a picture of anything. Without listing the gangs or prominent cases or gang leaders it's without substance of any use to a reader, especially as what was in it was dated.... and what got cut out of surreptitious origin was indeed dubious and biased and original research/AUTO. And dividing it up by alphabetically-listed city rather than by province is even more useless.
BC and each other province have different 'gang ecologies' and histories and "Metro Vancouver" and "Abbotsford" should be the same section, along with Chilliwack which is part of the Lower Mainland crimeworld and the location of an 'important' shrine to a dead gang-leader, either of the Universal Soldiers or the United Nations I think. None of what's going in BCs underworld has much at all to do with what goes in in the GTA or Montreal.
The recent tragic deaths of the two teens in Surrey a couple of months ago should be in this article, along with a lot of other gang-related killings and also crossfire and mistaken-identity killings. But frankly, it's a dangerous topic for someone to work on given 'the nature of the beast' and given the amount of crap dished out to would-be contributors and now-former editors/contributors in Wikipedia there's just no one around who knows enough about this subject or is from the places in question to expand the article in an intelligent and neutral fashion.

We need to discuss the Wolfpack Alliance mob...[edit]

If not in this article, then in one of the other ones. Peter Edwards has been discussing them recently. e.g.

Paolo Caputo, 64, was killed in a shooting that police and underworld sources linked to an earlier Toronto murder involving a mostly millennial, multi-ethnic, pan-Canadian gang called The Wolfpack Alliance. Caputo’s brother, Martino Caputo, was connected to The Wolfpack Alliance https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2019/08/22/how-millennial-mobsters-are-changing-the-face-of-organized-crime.html

Cosimo Ernesto Commisso, was related to Cosimo (The Quail) Commisso of Siderno, Italy, considered by police there to be an 'Ndrangheta organized crime boss. A Star investigation found some of his Canadian relatives had clashed with aggressive young newcomers from B.C. and Quebec allied to a gang called The Wolfpack Alliance shortly before the murder. https://www.niagarafallsreview.ca/news-story/9518094-gta-saw-36-organized-crime-murders-in-2018-statscan-says/

Your thoughts on this, @User:Vaselineeeeeeee? Cheers, Peter K Burian (talk) 12:45, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Peter K Burian: Sorry for the delayed repsonse. This would definitely be good to include here. I removed it from Siderno Group as the sources don't seem to say the group or Caputo was linked to it, but it could be readded here and further info. Abbotsford[edit]

Last sentence has been mangled Elinruby (talk) 08:16, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vancouver[edit]

Completely omitted, although there is definitely organized crime, accused for example of laundering money through a casino. There have also been shootings, mostly in the southern suburbs. (And no, Abbotsford is not part of Vancouver; it is a distant exburb at best) Elinruby (talk) 08:20, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
