Clarification[edit]

"which he felt robbed him of valuable writing time which he limited as much as possible" Presumably an "and" should precede the second "which," so that its reference is to "teaching," not to "writing time."Orthotox (talk) 21:08, 26 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gissing's Diary[edit]

Gissing's actual diary was published, also, after he died, which lends some insight into his mentality, what was happening in his life on a nearly daily basis, and of course his point of view on it. Also includes weather reports for his location in just about every entry. It's extremely informative on Gissing's pessimism. The last decade or so of his life, he was pretty sure he was actively dying, his health concerned him so much. It's been a few decades since I read it, but it made a lasting impression on me.
