comment about promotion to cardinal bishop[edit]

I find "Previously, only the senior cardinal dean and the senior cardinal priest had the right to the title of cardinal bishop when one of the sees assigned to a cardinal bishop became vacant."

What's this about "senior cardinal dean"? "senior" isn't needed there, and the dean is already a cardinal bishop. Perhaps you meant that the senior cardinal priest was advanced to the cardinal bishop rank when a suburbicarian see became vacant.

Also, Ferretto would be the first cardinal bishop in this see to have only the TITLE of this see. Starting about 1962, suburbicarian dioceses, per Pope John XXIII, would have other bishops to provide local-ordinary functions in such dioceses. An old problem was that a cardinal bishop's other duties made him more distant w/r to the faithful in such a diocese. Carlm0404 (talk) 03:21, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
