Article requires immediate trimming and attention (Written Like An Advertisment)![edit]

I believe this article needs excessive trimming and more reliable sources, this article is also as the banner suggest written like an advertisements and the school may be editing it to suit their own needs and to promote its appearance. I will be deleting bits which don't have references and bits which sounds like and advertisement on the 19th of June 2008. All comments, contributions, suggestions, requests, etc. Welcomed! Sheepunderscore (talk) 08:55, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As reviewing administrator: I think the article not really purely promotional & declined a speedy. However, I did remove some promotional language, reduced inappropriate detail, condensed some parts, and especially removed a great many over-wordy phrases. A good job in researching and organising an article, but the next step after learning that, is learning how to write concisely in an encyclopedic style. Good luck with finishing the job, dealing with the concerns raised by the previous editor here. DGG (talk) 07:39, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the article should be deleted. No good luck needed, editor man; this article is a time sink. The college has its own webpage, and it doesn't need to be explained in an encyclopedia: it's a high school, for pity's sake, not recombinant DNA.

Plus, there are incidents of racial vilification occurring in relation to this article that wikipedia is providing a venue for. In Australia, we have a Federal Act (the Federal Racial Discrimination Act 1975) that outlaws racial vilification, and the actions by users facilitated by wikipedia are in clear contravention of that federal law. Perhaps there is a similar law in whatever jurisdiction wikipedia falls under? Betterthingstodo (talk) 03:25, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed an large amount of uncited, unnecessary, unotable and vandalism from this article. Please cite and think about the prose of information prior to adding! If you require assistance please talk to me through my talk page. Cheers Sheepunderscore (talk) 08:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Finished a major rewrite of the article to remove all advertisement-like material and/or content placed on Wikipedia by staff. The article loosely follows the entry for Malvern College, which is listed as a good article— Preceding unsigned comment added by Melbourneexpert (talkcontribs) 04:08, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What does 'unotable' mean? Cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Betterthingstodo (talkcontribs) 00:08, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glen Waverley Secondary College[edit]

Attention all, i believe the some of the material here is advertisement like material, further more the music program section is not only not notable but unnecessary as MOST if not all schools around the world have musice programs similar to the one mentioned. The musice director for example is not important, the awards and list of bands/ensembles in not notable and should be removed. The awards and list of bands/ensemble belong in school books and is not information usually contained in encyclopedias! I will be removing the music program section on the 20th of September 2008 unless otherwise. I would also like to congratulate everyone that has contributed to this article, great work, keep it up! Please feel free to contact me. Sheepunderscore (talk) 12:06, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Years 10-VCE?[edit]

The article says that it has students in junior school (7-9) and senior school (10-VCE). VCE is not a year level, it can even be completed by a year 7. The final year at this school is Year 12 (the year most students finish VCE) however most students begin VCE in year 10 or 11. So I'm going to edit this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.171.40 (talk) 12:37, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

... hey, what do ya know? the page is locked. In that case, can someone change it to something along the lines of 'The school is comprised of a Junior School (7-9) and a Senior School (10-12). Most students in the senior school undertake VCE subjects and generaly complete the certificate at the end of year 12. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.171.40 (talk) 12:43, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Melbourneexpert, 18 June 2011[edit]

1. School Funding Ad Campaign has not been verified by external sources for many years 2. Demographics are not important in this article, especially since it says 'As is the case with all Victorians, many students at the school are from migrant backgrounds.' 3. Site Redevelopment is written like an advertisement 4. Student-run groups listed have little presence in the school today. They were all started by people who have left the school.

Done Removed a lot of other junk as well. —James (TalkContribs)8:20pm 10:20, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request from Melbourneexpert, 19 June 2011[edit]

1. Concerning the Student Run Groups, Eco-Committee has not been updated since 2008, Students Against War and Racism has not been updated since 2009, Student Action for Same-Sex Marriage Equality (SASSME) is relatively unknown in the school. These are completely outdated references.

2. 2020 Program looks like an advertisement for the school
