POV Peddling[edit]

"In 1923, during the Irish Civil War, a sectarian mob came to burn the house down. Knight Desmond FitzJohn used a wheelchair as a result of a stroke in 1910 and refused to leave the house, telling the mob that "you'll have to burn me in it boys". On hearing this, the mob left and the house was saved."

Compare this with the following:

"In 1923, a detachment of soldiers defending the Republic democratically mandated in 1918 took action against allies and agents of the puppet Irish government fighting a war on behalf of the colonial power ..." etc etc

A neutral, reliably sourced account of the incident is needed; no source given for the version above (there is a citation of some on-line parish records which do not mention the incident). [1]Knight_of_Glin is also cited; it has different version of the story, based on some non-authoritative online source, so also lacks Reliable Source.

This needs to be cleaned up. Knockanore (talk) 18:12, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
