The article on Sudoku spells Sudoku in Japanese as 数独
At least one other place, the Go! Sudoku page, spells it as カズオ
I see that there are several Japanese writing systems, but are both really right?
My guess is that that only 数独 is actually correct in Japanese.
My guess is that the original Japanese word was in Kanji (数独)
and that somebody converted it to Katakana (カズオ) as though it was an imported loan word.
