First Movement D major ? And 1843, not 1847 or 1848?[edit]

I've generally seen the first movement interpreted as being in B minor (ending in D); the opening several bars are certainly D major but the movement goes to and fro around B minor after that. (Now speculatively and aside from the point, there's the conjecture - that Liszt's B minor sonata was partially inspired by the Quasi-Faust. A book (Kenneth Hamilton, Liszt: Sonata in B Minor, CUP, 1996) on Liszt's sonata notes "it would certainly be convenient if we could prove Liszt knew" Alkan's 1848 work by 1853. ) Schissel | Sound the Note! 17:27, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

I have attempted to address this in a revision of the article.--Smerus (talk) 09:22, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Doesn't it end in B major, not D major? Double sharp (talk) 06:47, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Additionally, 20 ans has several similarities to Chopin's Op.20 and Op.54 scherzi. Double sharp (talk) 14:20, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
