Notability of lists?[edit]

Am removing notability tag from this article.  While I do question the value of creating articles that are lists that can be found elsewhere, I do not think it is appropriate to apply the notability tag to just one example of this (i.e., why tag just the Guthrie Theater production history and not the product history articles for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Stratford Shakespeare Festival, or any of the other articles linked to from the category "Theatre company production histories"? - see link at bottom of article).

Perhaps this needs a broader discussion (if one already exists, please add link to this page).

Note:  also removed notability tag from Shakespeare Theatre Company production history page for same reason.

  • If we were to only allow information that doesn't appear elsewhere, then there wouldn't be be much info in the Wikipedia, so that statement doesn't seem to me like a good argument for deletion. And since the Guthrie Theater is rather notable, isn't a chronological list of productions almost by definition also notable?  After all, productions are what the Guthrie is all about. This list seems pretty  similar to adding a list of works by a noted composer for whom there is already a main article. Ella and Tina Fabrique[edit]

Although Tina Fabrique, starring as Ella Fitzgerald, is the show "Ella", she is not given author credits in the production.  If you can provide documentation of her role as author of the piece, please go ahead and add her as an author. Bfx12a9 (talk) 23:45, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan tag[edit]

Not sure I understand the point of tagging this as an orphan.  According to orphans criteria:

"An article is orphaned if fewer than three other articles link to it. However, this is a strict definition of the term and there is still discussion regarding whether to have a more relaxed definition in order to clear the backlog of orphans. Currently our priority is to focus on orphans with NO incoming links at all, and it is recommended to only place the orphan tag if the article has ZERO incoming links from other articles. One or two incoming links may be sufficient as long as they're relevant."

In general, any list of production history is going to be linked to from two sources:  the theater whose history is listed and the productions section of the articles regarding individual plays.  At time when this article was tagged as an orphan, it did have a link from the Guthrie Theater, which qualifies as relevant.

I am therefore removing the tag.  Please discuss on this page if you have different opinion.

  • I agree completely. If the Wikipedia allowed sub-pages, this would be one. Of course, the list could be included in the main article, but for convenience it is on a separate page. Under Construction[edit]

I am in the process of updating this entry to provide more dimension than just a list of productions. Specifically adding and clarifying productions on secondary stages vs. mainstages, providing overview of artistic direction, and lastly indicating participation of well known actors (although inclusion in this last will be entirely subjective)).

I intend to be done with updates early 2012 and will post an "All Clear" when finished.
