More Information needed[edit]

  • Can somebody source a photograph of HMS Beagle
  • Service history needs to be expanded, prehaps more on liberation of the channel islands which is her main 'claim to fame' — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fdsdh1 (talkcontribs) 19:04, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I will review this one, comments to follow. Zawed (talk) 22:31, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Description

  • In the text, the turbines are as Brown-Curtis when infobox says they are Parsons.
  • Complement is 134 in text but 138 in infobox (I assume the infobox should refer to its peacetime complement not its wartime).
  • "...and 'Y' gun was removed...": "...and the 'Y' gun was removed..." (or perhaps her).
    • Actually, since the gun is named, I don't believe that either suggestion is appropriate. They'd be fine if the text used "third" gun.
That's fine. Zawed (talk) 07:18, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Construction and service

  • "...4 April – 17 September 1938...": the dash should be to, as per the following sentence which uses this format.
  • "This assignment only two months...": "This assignment lasted only two months..."?
  • "The ship was tasked to blockade the German-occupied ports...": "The ship was tasked with the blockade of the German-occupied ports
  • I don't agree with these; your suggestion turns the sentence into passive voice. The existing text is simpler and more direct.
I can accept that; slipping into passive voice is a bad habit of mine. Zawed (talk) 07:18, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other stuff

  • Image tag looks fine.
  • Duplicate link: John Brown & Company
  • No dab links.
  • Running Checklinks, the external link to u-boat net is described as suspicious (but it works for me?).

That's all for now, will check back in a few days. Zawed (talk) 22:56, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for catching the little inconsistencies between the infobox and text.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:58, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Passing as GA. Cheers. Zawed (talk) 07:18, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add to "other stuff". HMS Beagle appears in the Ealing Studios production of "The Big Blockade" (1941), a wartime propaganda film.80.111.155.138 (talk) 16:09, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
