Notability

This person is notable because:

  • he has been operating his heroin business since at least the 1990s[1],
  • was ordered to forfeit $254,203,032 (more than £160,000,000[2]),
  • accounted for approximately 20% of the world’s total production heroin production for 2006[3] compiled by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime,
  • and is the second person to be convicted under the US narco-terrorism statute.[4][5]
