Focus on the bike or India?

[edit]

This article had far too much content relating to India. I'm sure it's cool for India to be making a Harley, but that belongs in another article, not this one. Some more on the actual bike, would be nice. Spacecowboy420 (talk) 11:19, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:WikiProject Motorcycling has had the discussion before about what motorcycle articles should be about. I think consensus was that we should not just present technical specs, but present the machine in its social context. In this instance it's this editor's opinion that the manufacture of a major US brand in India for the first time, and the rise of the Indian market is noteworthy and should be part of the article. @Dennis Bratland: where was that discussion, I don't remember? - Brianhe (talk) 11:52, 7 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I can understand. If a major international manufacturer came to any developing nation (I hope I'm not being rude, India is a developing country, isn't it?) then it would be a really big deal in that country. I'm pretty sure it's not a big deal worldwide though, and that's what articles should focus on, especially on English language wikipedia(I'm sure its got more detail and India focus on the Hindi wikipedia). It's worth a quick mention at some point in the article, but it certainly doesn't need mentioning multiple times, unless Harley decided to close all of the US plants and move everything to India.
