This whole subject is really frivolous to me and I feel kind of dumb for bringing it up, but isn't Heather more commonly named Heather Mason not Heather Morris? If she is, then the name Heather Morris should appear in the quotation marks. 01:21, 11 May 2006 User:Arius1987 (sign your posts with four tildes)

In the game she is referred to as Heather Morris until it is revealed by the plot of the game that her real name is Mason. As far as the plot is concerned, she is Morris, until her 'real' name is revealed as Cheryl Mason. --Thaddius 20:03, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, she's never called Heather Morris in the game. Heather Morris is the name of the voice actress who played her. See http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1262053 --195.112.20.185 01:44, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Explain how that's proof that the character isn't called that as well? By your reasoning her first name isn't ever Heather cause the actress who plays her has the same name. --Thaddius 12:27, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mason-ry[edit]

Can somone revert the changes that turned Morris to Mason? Her name in the game in Heather Morris for all intents and purposes. Calling her Heather Mason is a "spoiler". --Thaddius 19:00, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Personality Analysis[edit]

This whole section seems entirely based on the author's POV. Someone with knowledge of the game should rewrite it substantially, or even delete it. -- Fogbat 05:00, 9 June, 2006 (GMT)

I read the section over a few times, and I agree, so decided to change it around quite a bit to make it sound more neutral to the best of my ability. Although it had some interesting points, a Wikipedia article should be based more on facts than speculation, which was what most of the personality analysis seemed to be. -- T.K.R. 10:16, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the whole thing should be nuked and started from scratch. It sounds suspiciously similar to something from a FAQ on Gamefaqs. Besides, the whole idea of an "analysis" forms opinions, not facts. Xubelox 08:22, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you have a good point. My edited version was reverted back to the original anyway. Maybe it should be replaced by a chronicle of her experience in SH3? Or is that too much like a walkthrough for Wikipedia? I don’t know, just throwing ideas out there, because I think this article should be expanded a bit. T.K.R. 07:47, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't have time to rewrite it, but I've added an original research template should anyone care to edit this section. 209.66.65.54 (talk) 22:07, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mason-ry part 2[edit]

Naming her Mason, like she should be, maybe be spoiler-ish, but let's not forget that this is an encyclopedia, so it should store proper information. Naming her Morris is simply spreading misinformation just because she isn't called like that; the voice actor is called like that. The back of SH3 case stated otherwise, but it was said by the developers themselves that it wasn't true. Plus the picture should be changed - it's too sexy :P and it's just a promo shot; she doesn't look that in-game -- December Man 00:38, 9 June, 2006

Renamed entire section to Heather Mason. Changed picture to a more likeable. -- December Man 19:20, 20 June, 2006

I disagree with you whole heartedly. Her name turns out to be Cheryl Mason at the end, you're right, but this is not the Cheryl Mason section, it's the Heather Morris section. At the beginning of the game, to most who never played the game, right before the VERY end of the game, she is called Heather Morris. I think changing it is a bad idea. I've stated so above. --Thaddius 11:33, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Assuming you're right that Morris is a 'mistake', the witness protection program in the SH universe sucks if they don't change your last name. --Thaddius 11:36, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it does suck. As I said, no one has ever said she is officialy Morris, because she is not. Even the developers said it. "to most who never played the game, right before the VERY end of the game, she is called Heather Morris" - not for me. When I first played the game, I already knew something is wrong with 'Morris' just because her voice actor is called like that. When playing it I knew 'Morris' is just a mistake by the fans. Plus, this is an encyclopedia for God's sake; when one decides to look here before playing the games, he should be aware that the whole SH section is spoiler-ish. Besides, when one decides to enter 'Heather Morris' section, he immediately sees that's she is also called 'Cheryl Mason' and 'Alessa Gillespie' so he still is spoiled, so I think letting the section be called 'Morris' is an act of ignorance. -- December Man 11:48, 28 June, 2006

Well assuming you are correct then she should simply be called 'Heather' as that is her name in the credits, not 'Heather Mason'. I'm sure you can agree to that then as you seem to put a lot of stock in such things. I still refuse to believe that she'd just change her first name and that's it. I thought at the end she resolved to change her name back, which was the only indicator that her name was Mason at all. Calling her 'Mason' is just as foolish an act as 'Morris'. Also, people think that their proof that she isn't Morris is because the actress is named that. That's no proof at all. It's in the instructions and on the back of my copy of SH3 that the character is Morris. I guess my version is wrong though. Silly me. --Thaddius 12:26, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I moved it to just 'Heather'. If people have a problem, they can move it back. I won't do anything else. I grow weary of pressing the point. --Thaddius 14:50, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Was thinking about doing the same, now everyone is happy(LOL). BTW, Morris is reffered to Heather from the game only on the US package. -- December Man 15:25, 7 July, 2006
That's where you're wrong. It's on my Canadian package as well, both French and English versions (there's two sleeves for the game case). --Thaddius 01:20, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Canadian package is the same as the US package. It's not on my European one. -- December Man 15:11, 21 July, 2006

The US package does not include French text. --Thaddius 00:12, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was talking about the text about Heather not about the sleeves. -- December Man 00:50 CEST, 29 July, 2006

Meaning what, the manual or the in game text? It was my understanding that it was because Heather was never referred to as Morris in the game that she was not Morris. If it is in the manual, that also has a French section in the Canadian version. --Thaddius 13:22, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Move to Heather Morris?[edit]

What do you think??? --Zeldamaster3 16:41, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I moved to to Heather (Silent Hill) to prevent anyone arguing the Mason\Morris thing. Leave it as it is. --Thaddius 05:23, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eisoptrophobia?[edit]

"Heather suffers from a mild form of eisoptrophobia, the fear of seeing her own reflection. As such, she does not have a mirror in her bedroom or bathroom."

If I'm not mistaken, you take control of heather in a bathroom with a mirror and she's looking into it. If that's not the case, there are other bathrooms, and I KNOW that i've seen her in front of a mirror. Should this passage\fact be removed? --Thaddius 15:59, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This game does NOT start in a bathroom. It was Silent Hill 2 (!) that began with the main character (James Sunderland) watching himself in a mirror. The only mirror in whole Silent Hill 3 I can recall was the one in the hospital, where Heather sees her other self and dies if she keeps doing so. So this mirror scene even supports the theory. But I have to admit: I never read about Heather having eisoptrophobia in an official source or in the game. So personally I believe that it's quite probable that this just another possible interpretation by some fans. - F4LL0UT

You misunderstand. I didn't say the game starts in a bathroom - you take control of her in a bathroom near the beginning though. After the opening sequence at the amusement park she wakes up in the mall and then ducks into a bathroom, which, after you take control of her, she hops out the window of to avoid Douglas I think (been a while since I played it). Just to be certain I looked the scene up on youtube and found this video. You'll note that around 1:55 into the video she's in a bathroom and runs by some mirrors (it's a speed run so they don't dwell). There's a save icon on one so you'd have to look in the mirror to save. --Thaddius (talk) 23:06, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grammar[edit]

On the second picture, the one on the left, it reads ''Heather when she known as Alessa Gillespie.'' Be careful with grammar and sentence structure, this is a picture, it stands out of all that is written. This is the first thing that I read, and it is probably read more often than the article by the casual. --ابن محمد (67.171.235.87 14:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Mason-ry, hopefully for the last time[edit]

Because of the raucous debate from the Silent Hill page's talk page I've added a section on her last name which recounts reasons why people on each side believe what they believe and why we're only using the name 'Heather'. Please leave the name as it is and hopefully we'll avoid another edit war\debate. Thanks. --Thaddius (talk) 14:03, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
