Untitled[edit]

There are two more articles on this painter, one at Heinrich Hoffmann (painter), the other one at Heinrich Hoffman (painter), both created by the same user. Would that fact call for a redirect or the deletion of the pages with the misspelled name? <KF> 21:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is already a very elaborate and well researched article on Hofmann in Wikipedia Heinrich Hofmann. I have done the research and can assure you the information is correct. In the above mentioned articles not only the name is misspelled but the birthplace is wrong. Why do you keep these articles published? I have tried in my article (it is also in the German Wikipedia) to submit information that is correct and that has not been published before.

Why do I/we keep those articles? You're part of it, pal, and as you know more about it than others, why don't you turn them into redirects? I "kept" them because (a) they might have contained the correct information (how should I know?) and (b) because there's an image of a house in one of them which it might be a good idea to salvage. Anyway, thanks for clearing this up. So should we put the photo in the longer article? All the best, <KF> 17:27, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your answer. I am so glad I was able to contact you because I am not yet that familiar with how Wikipedia works. I did not mean to criticize anyone for keeping the two other articles. I just wanted to assure you that the information given there was incorrect. The photo does not show the birthplace of Heinrich Hofmann. As I mentioned he was not born in Fallersleben but in Darmstadt. I was in Darmstadt and studied Hofmann's letters and diaries in the archives there. We have tried to find the house where he was born but it seems to have been destroyed during the war. I will try to put some photos of drawings by Hofmann into my article to make it more interesting - but that might take some time. I hope I did not give you the impression that "I know it all"! I don't! But more and more people are interested in this artist; therefore I thought you might wish to know which article contained the correct information. Thanks again for your answer and the work you are doing for Wikipedia, and best wishes to you. WingsofJoy 18:23, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear KV, I have not heard from you. The two articles with the incorrect information are still in Wikipedia. Do you want me to do anything about that? Please let me know. Looking forward to hearing from you. WingsofJoy 20:53, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification/Verification[edit]

I'm going to reply to you here since your password isn't working. I just wikified your article for you, but you are going to have to verify it yourself since I do not have access to the books in the reference sections. Your article needs in-line citations to verify the info there. Check Wikipedia:Citation templates to figure out how to do that. Good luck. Nikki311 21:53, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what you mean by "Your article needs in-line citations to verify the info." WingsofJoy

Sorry I never answered you. I've been busy with other things. I can't remove the header from the article, not until you cite page numbers for all the information. You can say it is right all day long (and I believe you) but until you provide in-text citations (like you would do in an academic paper) than the article cannot be easily verified. I've already provided you a link about how to add in-text citations (see my last post, the one right above this one), and you still haven't fixed the article. I'll only remove the tag if and when you add the appropriate citations. If you need any other help, WP:CITE should help you out. One more thing. In-line or in-text citations are other names for footnotes. WP:CITE will show you how to add them. Nikki311 03:02, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
