Acids?[edit]

Can Hexazine's instability be resolved if the lone pairs were used up by Lewis acids(for example N6*[B(OH)3]6).--Joey jumper94 (talk) 19:22, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-aromatic dianion?[edit]

The N_6^(2-) ion is described as antiaromatic on the basis of the electron counting rules for a pi-conjugated ring, but the pi electrons in this case may not all be conjugated into separate rings. The solid is reported in the reference to have a metallic luster, so the hexazine rings could be neutral and aromatic with the extra two electrons per ring delocalized into metallic bonding.
