Note on Translations[edit]
It's not appropriate to make excuses for translations. A translation doesn't have to be "official". And in the case of Beuys, the quasi-canonical translations of his words are often very poor translations. He is said to have had a finger in some of the odd translations by his English-speaking followers, which might explain some anomalies (sorry, no ref, this is rumor). But some of his words have been published in very unprofessional non-native translation without any such excuse. My suggestion: Leave the original German in footnotes if you want, but delete the excuses. —Wegesrand (talk) 12:21, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
