I just added a "maths rating" template to this article, and I thought I'd comment on why I created the article (a while ago) in the first place, since it's probably a somewhat obscure thing for most people. In the theory of automorphic forms and Shimura varieties (for example, in important & well-known conjectures of Langlands), the concept of Hyperspecial subgroup is indeed needed. For this reason, I think this article is important enough to be here. Another main reason is that having casually tried to look up the definition several times, I finally dug up the original reference and a few other articles that actually bothered to define the term, so I figured creating an article on wiki would avoid other people the trouble of searching.RobHar 01:37, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
