Title[edit]

Why is the title having the last word as "Roopar" instead of "Ropar" ? --Extra999 (talk) 13:16, 27 December 2009

The Offical name of the place where this IIT is located is Rupnagar (formerly known as Ropar). This Roopar is misspelt.

Requested move[edit]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved.

The reason you couldn't move it, Difu Wu, is that there was more than one edit in the history at the target location. As soon as there is such a "non-trivial history", page moves become impossible without deleting the old history first. Blanking the page won't do it, and in fact adds a non-trivial edit to the history, thus making the move impossible if it wasn't already. In this case, there were already two edits in the history before you got there, so it didn't matter. - GTBacchus(talk) 18:18, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About not adding promotional content[edit]

The revision https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Indian_Institute_of_Technology_Ropar&oldid=578348068 asks why their edits are being reverted.

Here is the explanation: The revision adds two section:

  1. Campus Placements: which contains out-of-date and incorrect information.
  2. News Room: which contains a random selection of news stories mentioning IIT Ropar. These are very clearly promotional and serve no encyclopaedic purpose.

Because of these reasons, your edits were reverted.
