Presidential term contradiction[edit]

The terms for each past president listed on this page clearly contradict those in the source cited [1] because on this page it says each presidential term was only 2 years (eg 2007-2008) but on the source on the IBANGS website each term appears to be for four years (eg 2006-2009). What's going on here? Every morning (there's a halo...) 02:51, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's a one year term. They have their annual meetings usually in May and terms start/end at the business meeting during that annual meeting. The society website indicates longer terms, because they include the year before when people serve as president-elect and the year after when people serve as past-president. So, for example, Doug Wahlsten is indicated here to have been president from 2000–2001. In the very nice bio that you just created for him, you cite his term according to the society's website as 1999 to 2002. That can be broken down to 1999-2000 as president elect, 2000-2001 as president, and 2001-2002 as past-president, 3 years in total. This explains the overlap in terms on the society website, the society does not have more than 1 president concurrently, but does have a prez-elect, prez, and past-prez simultaneously. I guess that's supposed to provide some continuity between presidential terms. Our article only lists the years that people were president. Hope this explains. --Randykitty (talk) 06:33, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
