Hong Kong in Scotland[edit]

I have moved it here, as it is part of British / Irish cricket season, which is listed as the single year.

Previous single years have matches in Sept in Ire / Scotland listed there, and are listed as such on cricinfo:[1] Spike 'em (talk) 12:04, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Good move - thanks Spike. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:26, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And for the avoidance of doubt, Cricket Archive also states it's in 2016, not 2016/17. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 16:33, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Got there in the end! Spike 'em (talk) 07:02, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On related point, shouldn't the Aus Women in SL tour be in the 2016-17 season? Will move there later unless anyone complains. Spike 'em (talk) 08:07, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket archive seems to mix which series the matches are in, but does have a page Australia_Women_in_Sri_Lanka_2016-17 so moving. Spike 'em (talk) 08:11, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Minor / International tours[edit]

Further to what Lugnuts has said in comments, I've tried to start a discussion about International / Minor tours on the main cricket talk page : International Cricket in ccxx / ccxx-xy Spike 'em (talk) 12:00, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Spike - obviously missed that discussion! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 12:26, 14 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Country codes[edit]

I did wonder about this before, and due to the edit skirmish seems a good time to raise. The WP:CRICKET Team Template lists national teams with the 3-letter country codes. While the 2 letter countries do work (and I'm not sure where these are actually defined) would it not make sense to use the code listed on the template page (if this means changing the template page to use 2 letter countries then so be it) Spike 'em (talk) 12:59, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And Template:Cr says Parameters: nation — Use either the name of the nation or a three-letter country code, as specified by ISO, IOC or FIFA (most should work) Spike 'em (talk) 13:05, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not been an issue until now. Looking back at the previous articles, the two-letter code seems to be used (where needed) instead of the three, therefore we retain it. The match summaries always use them too (IE Joe Bloggs (NZ) made his Test debut), etc. I'm not sure what relevance the IOC or FIFA code has do with cricket. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 13:26, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I assume someone has just copied the template from somewhere else. The ICC website uses SA, NZ, SL rather than RSA/ZAF, NZL, SRL/LKA so I'm happy to stick with that, though should the template be changed to list the preferred code? Spike 'em (talk) 15:05, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
ICC was the organisation I was trying to think of earlier! D'oh. Yes, it would make (more) sense to follow their coding. Agree that the template should be updated to reflect that too. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:23, 22 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Seems that WI for West Indies doesn't work (it brings up the flag for Wisconsin), but that is what ICC use Spike 'em (talk) 10:29, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

India in West Indies and USA[edit]

The season overview makes no sense at the moment. The Test series and the T20 series are two different tours, with two different hosts. The T20I series is played in the USA and organised by the BCCI, whereas the Test series is a home series for the West Indies. It would be better to split them in the season overview for better reading. Sidhant99 (talk) 13:17, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's clearly the same tour with two extra matches added. We don't group the tours by who organizes them! Why would it be "better reading" when it's the same tour? Plus your terrible revert here makes it read that India are the home team! And why have two different sections in the summary table that link to the same place? Doesn't make any sense at all. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 13:52, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that the first flag indicates the home team. Does that mean that Australia is the home team in their match against Ireland in International cricket in 2016–17? You're the supreme authority in deciding how we denote these matches, so I'll leave it to you. Apologies. Sidhant99 (talk) 18:32, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, so we finally realised that India was the home team in the series. Seems like my terrible editing and dumb logic were correct. Sidhant99 (talk) 12:38, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The USA flag has to be removed from the season overview table as the Test series is not played in USA... So it becomes blatantly wrong and utterly ridiculous for anyone to place the Test series under the USA flag... Either the USA flag has to be removed with WI simply named as the home team or else we need to make different sections for Tests and T20Is if the USA flag has to stay... So which one should we implement? Both can't stay together! Cricket246 (talk) 16:52, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. My preference would be to ditch the US flag and keep it as one tour. Spike 'em (talk) 17:11, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Cricket246 to the rescue. How do we manage without him? Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:04, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa! A Wikipedia "veteran" has taken my name! Thank you sir! I'm honoured...obliged..and what not! Cricket246 (talk) 19:13, 2 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
