I checked the One Plus One Website which showes a "Julie Chew" as finance director. Then found a news article in which Julie Chew and a colleague is alleging racism against the charity and Fielding is mentioned as a former finance director supporting the colleague's claims of racism. So she wasn't there for long, apparently. It's not correct to describe One Plus One as a major charitable organisation, but to be "charitable", instead of calling it a minor charity I have just referred to it as "a charity". A bit on how Fielding got the job in Dr. Who[edit]

I believe I read (as opposed to saw on television/video) someplace that Janet Fielding was considered to short as she was under the height requirement to be an airline stewardess at the time. It went on to say that she claimed that, I believe Singapore Air, or somesuch in the South East Asian/Australian region, had different regulations because people were shorter in that region. Also a couple of fibs on her resume were mentioned. The studio learned of these, but hired her anyway. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember the source, but it is out there if someone is willing to look for it. This is being added to both the actress' and character's talk pages. Nick Davies[edit]

I recall Nick Davies being in a lot of trouble at various times, though this is an article about Janet Fielding and not Nick Davies, so his apparent or alleged misdemeanours don't belong here. DavidFarmbrough (talk) 16:58, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth[edit]

It's tenuous, I'll agree. But according to

Howe, David J.; Stammers, Mark (1996) [1995]. Doctor Who: Companions. London: Doctor Who Books. pp. 123–4. ISBN 0-86369-921-9.

Fielding was "born in Brisbane, Australia, in 1957" and was "a director of Marina Martin Associates, an actor's agency"; and at this page we find that Marina Martin Associates is a former name (used between 19 January 1988 and 24 August 1988 and also between 16 December 1993 and 20 January 2000) of Gordon & French Ltd, registered no. 01039917, which is exactly the same company as that used on the source in question, which states "09 Sep 1953". That might fail WP:NOR though. It is well known that actors often understate their ages; this may be a belief that it helps to advance their careers - but in a legal matter like becoming a company director, the truth is required. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:51, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

JNT's memoirs in DWM recounted an incident when Fielding presented him with an immigration form to sign off on with her DOB in pencil. Conventions[edit]

I've tagged the comment that Fielding has "avoided conventions in the past." She may not be a frequent guest, but I met her at several cons in the 80s. I don't have any materials from them anymore, but there's proof out there somewhere.PacificBoy 17:56, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There was a period in the 1990s when she dropped off the circuit, partially after controversial remarks at Panopticon 1993 when she attacked the show and said it shouldn't be revived for its portrayal of women, despite not having seen the last years of the show. having to relearn accent?[edit]

what various reference books/interviews have claimed is that Janet had to "relearn" an Australian accent for the part of Tegan as her accent had anglicised during her time in the UK. Is this true?
